Hi Janessa!

I as well could never wear tampons. I just couldn't figure it out,

and it wasn't till I met someone off of this website that I was able

to understand why! I was so glad I wasn't alone! I had my septum

removed in January and the following month tried tampons...I have to

admit it was better than before definitely! But I still had to use a

panty liner.

I'm praying so hard that I won't have to wear tampons for the next 8

months though ;) I'm 6 weeks pregnant finally!

Hope this helps!

Hi Jenessa

I too am UD and had the same problem. I always 'leaked' when I used a tampon; I

guess because one side was not protected so the blood loss still came out. I

had the v septum removed and no longer have a problem with leaking. I have

heard of women using two tampons; one in each side but this did not work well

for me as one side was a lot smaller than the other and it was very

uncomfortable.

Tampons and UD

Hello ladies.

I have a question for all the UD girls out there. Are you able to use

tampons alone on AF? I never have been, and I always assumed it was

because I had really heavy periods, but now I'm wondering if it's

because of the vaginal septum rather than the amount of flow. No

matter how heavy or light AF is, the tampons alone do not absorb the

flow. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if having the

septum removed would solve this. If anyone has experience with this,

I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

Jenessa

Jenessa-

Hi! I am a old hat fused UD, who has been hiding out on the Cafe

board for a few weeks. Our wonderful founder, Beth let us know that

there were some UD questions over here, so here I am, at your

disposal! I will scan the posts for other questions and answer them

as I go along.

hehehe.. Girl, you are not alone! I used tampons for about the fist

year I had my period. I realize now that the other side just

hadn't " started " yet. They started leaking, so here I was, in the

7th grade, wearing a pad AND a tampon. My mom kept buying me bigger,

and bigger, and BIGGER tampons, until I was using the super-duper-

toilet-paper on a rope version. I was baffled...the tampons weren't

getting full, and they still leaked like a seive. Also had

horrendous cramps and very looong periods. I know know that was due

to one side starting (with cramps) and then anywhere from 12 hours to

3 days later, the other side would start (with cramps.) My doctors

had no solution - they just put me on birth control for the cramps

and shrugged their shoulders about the tampon problem. (I wasn't

diagnosed until I was 19)

One thing that you might try - on occasion, (like trips to the beach)

I use two teeny-weenie super slender tampons. It takes some

manuevering, but for most girls with a vag septum it is doable. Some

say it is perfectly comfortable and forgoe pads completely - me, its

not exactly uncomfortable, but just doesn't feel 'right.' So most of

the time, I just stick with pads.

hope that helps,

I used to think I'd never be able to use just tampons too, until I

was on my honeymoon and AF arrived. Well, there was no way I

was staying out of the ocean or pool so I used two tampons at

once. It worked perfectly. The way I found insertion the easiest is

to put one in, but don't remove the " plunger " until you have the

second one in place. Keeping the first one in will help to guide

you with the placement of the second one so you'll end up with

them side by side rather than one on top of the other.

Good luck!
