We did BIOSET to clear these types of allergies (my daughter had them all as

well) and it really helped with behavior, stimming, and focus. Interestingly,

the BIOSET tests did show a severe allergy to vaccines and metals, which still

need to be dealt with, but it helps to clear the food allergies first. She

was also allergic to all of her supplements except for a few, so now they're

working the way they're supposed to intead of causing further irritation to her

CNS. BIOSET will clear allergies, but the heavy metals toxicity needs to be

dealt with through chelation according to Dr. Cutler (Ellen).

The gfcf diet helps some kids, but it makes some kids even worse since it

usually increases intake of soy and corn, which many kids are even more

sensitive

to. It seems like the specific carbohydrate diet is a better bet for our kids

- it's like GFCF 2000.

>>>My question is, how we never saw any allergic reaction in him -

EVER. >>>

We never saw any allergic reactions in our son either (except to dogs--that

gave him hives). But once we had him on the GFCF diet for 6+ months and had

treated his yeast overgrowth (repairing some of the leaky gut along the way),

his health, cognition and behavior improved dramatically. Then we were able to

see the allergic reactions that were there before but were masked by the

" autism " diagnosis. Things like stimming, tantrums, hyperactivity, aggression,

tics, spaciness, short/no attentino span, etc. We found that when Max is

exposed

to allergens (or gluten/casein) all of those symptoms reappear and he seems

autistic again.

The *good* news is that since we've been treating all of these underlying

problems (yeast overgrowth, mercury toxicity, allergies, etc.) for almost 3

years

now, the reactions to allergens aren't as pronounced as they used to be, and

he's actually able to tolerate small amounts of things that would have sent

him completely off the deep end two years ago (like food dyes).

I don't think your doctor is crazy or scamming you. But if he's ignoring the

leaky gut and heavy metal toxicity, then he's very poorly informed and he'll

only treat the symptoms instead of the underlying problem and your son won't

get much better.

We saw Dr. Ellen Cutler for the initial testing (she's the originator and the

best) and then a local practitioner to do the clearing. It's not " allergies "

in the sense most of us think of them, in terms of sneezing and rashes, it's

more " sensitivities " that can manifest themselves in many ways, including a lot

of autistic behaviors.

When someone is allergic to that many foods, the remedy is not

necessarily to only do a dietary intervention but to repair the leaky

gut-- THAT is the cause of the " allergies " . Of course you could go

farther and say that the mercury/metal is the cause of the leaky gut,

etc...

Treat the underlying cause and you help the problem.

Laurel (I like that name)

When tests come back showing someone is allergic to 83 common foods

(or more than 5 or 6) this would be a major indication of leaky gut

and not the foods. So focusing on healing the gut may be the most

efficient course of action. This is also a great case for enzymes

because digestive enzymes will be doing 2 things at once:

- breaking down all foods so that they are more digested and least

likely to cause negative reactions. And you get the nutrition and

energy from the food

- pro-actively work to heal the gut (something food eliminations

don't really do). We used the Houston enzymes instead of GFCF diet.

Worked great. After two years, we find my younger son no longer

needs enzymes, but my older son does at least once a day or so. What

is a interesting is that the younger son was the one with all the

gut problems. Here is a group and some information on enzymes if you

like.

www.enzymestuff.com

You might also want to see if there is a yeast or bacteria

overgrowth as these often occur with leaky gut. Does you doctor want

to treat for either of these? There are some over the counter things

that work pretty well that you can try inexpensively and quickly to

see if they make a difference.

>>>>This doctor claims that the autism is the symptom of these

allergies.

Does he mean that he thinks your son basically just has allergies

only and this causes the autism behavior?

>>>> I feel like we are being scammed. Now I feel like I was taken

for a ride. All the way to the bank.

It happens all too often. :(

He is incompetent. Don't go back.

Any idea WHY your kid is allergic to everything? Like because of

mercury which causes immune system derangement so he becomes allergic

to everything, and it isn't going to get better until the mercury is

gone?

It is long enough that the first problem is leaky gut, which you treat

with glutatmine between meals, gotu kola liquid extract, gelatin,

digestive enzymes, etc.

Makes it pretty clear that there is no point going back to this

Well, they will express concern over everything that actually has a

scientific foundation and might help your son since they are part of

the system that turned him autistic.

This is a much more relevant comment, since some people don't develop

This is a learning experience a lot of people get to have.

Just remember, it is a lot less unpleasant to take your chances and

get scammed a few times than it is to have your son never get any

better.

Laurel,

Many people have seen dramatic improvements from the GFCF diet. We

have. Sometimes it takes more than a month. It's the wheat and

dairy proteins that drug these kids into their own world. The metals

could be could be causing the leaky gut. Yeast from too many

antibiotics could be causing the leaky gut. We have also see

dramatic improvements while gfcf due to the houston enzymes

specifically zyme prime and afp peptizide. Be careful with gfcf. A

lot of the wheat and dairy substitues cause yeast but ussually it is

far the lesser of two evils. Was he 4+ on all these allergies? If

he is slightly allergic he can eat them on a rotational basis. A lot

of time you don't see an allergic reaction. We never did. There are

different types of allergic reactions. The kind he has causes his

immune system to be reved up because you've got all this undigested

food leaking through his gut and his immune sytsem is attacking it

causing him to become allergic to the food and then it doesn't have

anything left to attack the stuff it should attack. The thing is is

that the leaky gut results in food allergies and a messed up immune

system. You need to heal the gut and stop the wheat and dairy

proteins from drugging him. Your doc said all of his patients are

allergic to everything does not mean that this is a scam it means

that this is a fundamental problem causing autism. A lot of people

pay a lot more than $600 for their first round of dan doc tests so

maybe your doc was being conservative which is nice. Insurance

should cover the test. I feel strongly that biological interventions

are hugely important in helping these kids. You are not going to

give any more vaccines are you?

We had the same experience, the only help the diet did was that when we did

introduce the other foods back to his diet, it was clear that corn was a problem

along with gluten and caesin.

Our doctor then had us do a few rounds chelation, when Tristan wasn't cured he

tried to get us to get thousands of dollars worth of more tests done. I could

see

that Tristan made improvement with chelation, though small and slow, but now we

see a different doctor, are back on track with chelation, and Tristan is doing

wonderfully!!!

The same past doctor wouldn't give us a script for acyclovir even after

Tristan's

pediatrician gave him one for the chickenpox, and Tristan was so much more calm

and focused. The past doctor wanted to run tests. Our new doctor gave him a

script the very first visit. New doctor also totally supports chelation, and

doesn't need tests to tell him yeast is a problem or how to treat it. Actually,

he was really excited when I gave him some info on GSE, said he'll start giving

the information to other patients that have yeast problems.

Some DAN doctor's, and our old one specifically, came to DAN because they

treated

autistic people for their allergies, and the autism improved. In the case of our

old one, he has NO CLUE about mercury, and though I gave him Andy's book, I

don't

think he read any of it.

Find a doctor that will support chelation!!!!!!!!!!!!

check out at the . Enzymes can help a lot with

food allergies. I had my son tested also. I am not eliminating these foods

unless I see a visible reaction from him. INstead, we are doing the enzymes. Go

to this group and check out the information there. i think you will like what

you read.

[ ] DAN doc says my son's allergic to EVERYTHING

My youngest son with severe autism was recently diagnoised with all

allergies known to man by a local DAN doctor. I took my son there

initially to look into heavy metal testing and chelation. He

convinced me food allergy may more be the cause of my son's problem

and we had him food allergy tested with this DAN doctor. The result

list of food allergies includes:

yeast

dairy - ALL cows milk products

chicken

wheat

oat

corn

peanut

brocolli

blueberry

orange

pineapple

potato (white & sweet)

bean (green & pinto)

malt

mushroom

rye

bran

tomato

onion

spelt

gluten

walnut

avacado

barley

egg white

grapefruit

My question is, how we never saw any allergic reaction in him -

EVER. This doctor claims that the autism is the symptom of these

allergies. We did try this diet for a month. We saw no change. I

almost feel like we are being set up to fail. We have to pay more

than $600.00 for these tests. My son has two other doctors that he

has seen for years. A pediatrician, and an " autism doctor " a

developemental pediatrician at Childrens Mercy. Both of these

doctors expressed concern over the legitimacy of these allergies.

In fact, one of them even commented, " every patient I have that goes

to see this doctor, comes back allergic to just EVERYTHING " !

I feel like we are being scammed. Has anyone else had an experience

like this. My hopes were so high. Now I feel like I was taken for

Yep, same for us. I must add that the Houston Enzymes have REALLY helped,

too. It must help with leaky gut, allergies from leaky gut, and incomplete

breakdown of foods that really cause problems everywhere.

Now my daughter can eat the dairy and peanuts that she tested off the scale

on IgG and IgE tests. It is good news to know that allergies do not have to be

a life sentence.

Regardless of whether this is mercury-related or not, this is definitely

gut dysbiosis. When intestines are extremely permeable, IgE levels are

present for most food substances as immune response is raised against

substances not normally found to breach the intestinal wall, namely

components in food. Action item: HEAL THE GUT!

not true? I'm pregnant presently. first baby in 12 years (my

we did switch to soy during that time. But no corn. It was on the

I see you've gotten a lot of responses here so I'll be brief (well,

I'll try!), and note that I haven't read all responses, so maybe this

has been said.

Allergy testing for foods is far less than 100 percent accurate. A

book I read on food allergies calls these tests pretty near worthless

except as perhaps a first step in the allergy identification process.

This particular book might be a good place to start in unravelling the

whole food allergy business, I believe it was called " Hidden Food

Allergies: Finding the Foods... " by hmmmm...what was his name,

something, an MD. It was a short book. One of the main points he made

was that elimination and challenge is really the only way to find out

what the true food allergies are. He identified 8 major allergens;

wheat, corn, citrus, chocolate, dairy, soy, eggs and peanuts. If I

were you, I'd look seriously at these foods first and perhaps do some

trials. Eliminate the most likely allergenic foods, keeping a food and

symptom diary. Then reintroduce potential problem foods one by one

(how you do this and the timing etc, is important). The author of the

book I mentioned gives a lot of good advice on how to do this wisely

so you can know what causes what.

Food allergies and their proper treatment are so important in autism

(we have the most common ones for autistics, gluten, casein, corn,

eggs and soy) that this is really not something you can ignore. The

thing is, it is not nearly as simple as doing testing and then

eliminating all those foods. There are a lot of details and nuances

involved. For example, the grain fed to the chickens you eat can

affect whether you get a reaction. Odd but true! Also it can be hard

to identify something like a corn allergy when you eat ANY processed

food whatsoever because it is EVERYWHERE and until you get very

knowledgable it is hard to know for sure you are completely avoiding

it.

Enzymes and probiotics are important and very helpful as well, but no

substitute for the process of determining what the real problem foods

are, and then avoiding them until you can solve the real problem which

is likely metal toxicity. (Some folks disagree on this, and eat the

allergenic foods along with enzymes to digest them. We were unable to

get away with this.)

Good luck!

Not true. Thimerosal has been removed from *some* vaccines, not all.

Here is the list of current production

http://www.vaccinesafety.edu/thi-table.htm

Old stock was not recalled, so you still need to check the insert of

any vax you allow for your child.

Some vax the thimerosal was replaced with aluminum, which is also not

a good thing.

There are other negative ingredients for many/all vax, so you should

check the ingredients for anything you allow.

Here is my vaccination opinion, which is *similar* to but not exactly

the same as Cave's opinion. I also reference her book on

this page, which you might want to purchase

Congrats on your new baby!

That's because he doesn't understand the counting rules. You can find the

counting rules in the files .

Multi-dose vaccines NEED a bacteriocide to kill any bacteria forming as a

result of multi insertions of needles . ALWAYS check to see what is in the

bottle. If not thimerosal then SOMETHING else is in there to kill the

bacteria, likely 2-Phenoxyethanol. Bad stuff also!!
