Ewwww! I hate snakes! No matter how much everyone says that the ecosystem needs them I still can't stand them! ditto for cockroaches.

We measured this one (the pictures were taken when we had to drive back last night and find him LOL THAT was an adventure! I kept thinking the mama snake was gonna come looking for us!) anyway, he's 4 feet long!!! Someone else had stopped and taken the rattles off. They were welcome to them LOL

RE: Ronnie's new friend!

I hope to heck you or Ronnie killed it. shudder!!! I've seen a few snakes around here but they weren't poisinus (sp?). We have found snake skins around the house and garage that were the bad kind. eeek!!! I hope I don't meet up with the big one in the garage.

My Dad was telling me a few weeks ago that he once found pieces of snake skin while he was brushhogging. He stopped and carefully picked up the pieces and took them up to his brothers house and they pieced it together. How about a 10 or 11 foot long rattler. I don't even want to think about that. shiver shiver shudder lol

Cool! I don't mind snakes, maybe because my uncle had a pet snake when I was growing up. Then Corin had a couple of snake when he was a kid, etc. We have alot of snakes around here...mostly small ones, but some large black snakes and an occasional copperhead or eastern diamond back rattler.

In fact when Denny, Sam (his step-father), Holden and Ethan were fishing over the July 4th trip to camp Denny saw something swimming from the other side of the lake. At first, at a distance , he thought it might be a beaver because there are alot at that lake. As it got closer they realized it was a snake. It turned out to be a rattler. The darn thing came straight as an arrow across the lake and up on the ground and staight under Denny's chair and into the high grass, LOL. Of course Denny wasn't IN his chair by that time, LOL. And of course the kids had to tell their Mom as soon as they talked to her, LOL. We're hoping Kayly lets them go to camp with us again sometime, LOL

(she DOES mind snakes)

So does Denny's Mom. She hates worms, too. Anything wiggly. When Denny was a kid he put a snake on a fishing rod and stuck the fishing rod through the door into the kitchen when she was in there to scare her. He was laughing his butt off until he got spanked and couldn't sit on it for awhile, LOL

Ronnie's new friend!

This is the guy Ronnie found yesterday on his way home from Macon! I'm glad he didn't bring him home for dinner!! Several of our neighbors have found snakes in their yards in the past week. With the creek running behind us, it's no surprise but it keeps my butt in the house.

Of course one of our friends found a rat snake in their bathtub! Shhhh... he was close to finding the rat! hehe His wife found the snake. hehehehe

Be careful out there! They're moving!

We never kill snakes because they eat the mice, etc and are good for the ecosystem.

As far as I know, cockroaches aren't good for the ecosystem. Luckily up north we don't get them as much as down south. I've never lived a place where we had them. But I've had alot of patients over the years that did. I kill them, they gross me out.

You really shouldn't kill them. They keep the pests down.

They honestly won't hurt you unless you threaten or hurt them. Just keep your distance.

Oh, he's dead? LOL--I guess he would be if he was still there when you went back. Corin mounts snakes for people sometimes, the guy who took the rattles should have taken the whole thing.

One of our friends down here lost their Rottie to a coral snake. It bit her & by the time anyone realized it was too late for the anti venom to work. It was sooo sad. Of course, being a dog she probably would not have exactly kept her distance. Speaking of which my idgit dog almost got herself killed the other day. Took off & decided to start "herding" a mule. This mule has already kicked & killed two other dogs that have chased it.....well, they start out chasing it then it chases them. Thank heavens Tory is such a fast runner, he nearly got her. Of course, I kind of doubt that she will chase mules anymore now. At least I hope she learned her lesson, she was scared witless!
