I came to the computer at 11:00 o'clock to post my rollcall - - and have been reading messages for an hour (it is now midnight)! A lot can happen in a few hours time!! I had checked messages at 5:00 o'clock before I left to go to my meeting - - little did I suspect that Melody was outside trying to kill herself! Melody, I'm soooooo sorry you hurt yourself, but I'll have to admit, you tell a pretty funny story! You should be a writer for some TV comedy show!! I am doing Melody's "Happy Dance" over a 2# loss tonight - - puts me 1.5# UNDER GOAL!! Zippie-dee-do-dah!!! I decided last week that I would keep track of calories this week - SOMETHING I HAVEN'T DONE IN YEARS!! That's one thing I have loved about the South Beach Diet - - you don't have to count anything and you don't have to keep up with exchanges - - but since I was struggling to get under goal, I decided to put forth a little extra effort - - and it really paid off! So - - - - I'm gonna do it again this next week and see if I can have a repeat performance. , Congrats on your good loss tonight - - and Kathy, you too! And everybody else who had losses. And for all who didn't have losses, get back on track and do whatever you know works best for you - - and we'll be seeing you report a loss next week. With all of my years of procrastinating - yo-yoing - making excuses - and blaming no will-power - - - I know that you can change your mind-set and your attitude - - I did it, and I know YOU CAN DO IT, TOO!!! Guest guest
I'm smiling ;-) at your 2 lb. loss, Clara. That is great. I'm working on a loss myself for Tuesday. "I will have a loss!" I'm determined. And your under GOAL that is even greater! HUGS, Donna Clara's Rollcall Hey, everybody!! Guest guest
Thanks, Randie & for the kind words - - - I'm back to keeping up with my calories this week - - even though I eat about the same thing every day. When I find something I like, I don't mind having it over and over - - - My standard breakfast is a piece of WW toast with a tablespoon of peanut butter (about 170 calories), midmorning I have a piece of fruit (cantaloupe is wonderful right now) or a cup of yogurt (90 calories), for lunch I usually do a rollup with WW/Low Carb flour tortilla spread with Dijon mustard, a slice of 97% FF ham, a mozzarella cheese stick - or a fold over (1 piece of bread) tuna sandwich and a few pork skins (about 275 calories) & another piece of fruit, yogurt, or some Low Fat/Low Carb treat like an ice-cream bar or SF Jell-O or SF pudding dessert - anything with about a hundred calories - and that leaves me with about 600 calories for supper and another late evening snack. It's just a matter of having the right "snacky" stuff - - and NOT having the fattening stuff that I WOULD NOT LEAVE ALONE if I had it in the house!! Most of my evening meals are a piece of meat cooked on my Foreman type grill - and a salad or a veggie - - we eat tons of frozen mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, asparagus, etc.) that we cook in the microwave and season with olive oil and spices. We use a lot of rosemary/garlic seasoning - - it's good on anything! Now - - - how's that for telling you more than you ever wanted to know in the first place????? I don't know how all of that would figure out in exchanges - - maybe I ought to check that out - - and until this past week, I didn't know how it checked out in calories - - but I tried to keep my calories in the 1200 range, and fortunately, my standard day worked out to be in that vicinity. Just had to cut back on my pork skins a little bit - - - I was eating too many calories there. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT PLAN WE FOLLOW - - - WE ALL KNOW THAT CALORIES ARE THE BOTTOM LINE TEST!! SO I CHALLENGE EVERYBODY TO COUNT THEIR CALORIES THIS WEEK, NO MATTER WHAT PLAN YOU USE - - - AND SEE EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING!! (((HUGS))) Clara No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing, Clara. I do have to tell you I have tried pork skins with salsa since the past mention of them. I did inspect them real good and I like it, although the taste is altered a little. -----Original Message-----From: TexasTOPS [mailto:TexasTOPS ] On Behalf Of Clara GleghornSent: Friday, July 22, 2005 9:26 AMTo: TexasTOPS Subject: Re: Clara's Rollcall Thanks, Randie & for the kind words - - - I'm back to keeping up with my calories this week - - even though I eat about the same thing every day. Guest guest
Yummmmy! BUFFALO! I had my 91% Fat Free Buffalo Burger with fruit again tonight. The fruit was a little disappointing. It needs some yogurt for dipping. The burger was FABULOUS AS ALWAYS! My friend had a grilled chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. Looked awesome! Might try it one day with fruit and no sauce. I love my buffalo burger. I love to try new things but I'm hooked on this burger and get it every time we go to Ruggles Cafe and Bakery! "ANY LOSS IS AN AWESOME LOSS!" 1/2 lb. from CLUNKING! ! ! I use olive and canola oil exclusively - - don't often fry anything, but if I do, I use just a little canola oil (that's what Pam is, too - - read the label) - and drain whatever I've cooked really really well. Kathleen talked about frying onions in Pam spray - - sometimes I do that with onions & green peppers and put them on top of a grilled hamburger patty and sometimes melt a slice of mozzarella cheese over the HB patty before I put the onions & peppers on!! PRETTY TASTY!! Might even work for if he can find some ground buffalo!! As far as cravings - - sometimes I get a real craving for chocolate - - and when I do, I go to the store and buy ONE small Hershey bar - - and savor the whole thing!! But, hey, that's only about 225 calories - so all I have to do is skip one of my other snacks, and it all evens out! I have learned to be a great "equater" (is there such a word?) - and when you think about a two mile walk burning about 200 calories - I don't want to have to take a lot of those two mile walks in a day's time!! It sure takes a lot longer to walk two miles than it does to devour a candy bar! LOL Where is our friend Melody today??? I tried to call her, but she wasn't home - - and I really do think she should have let us hear from her this morning after her little "episode" last evening!!!!! Melody??? Where are you girl??? Don't you know we worry about you?? (((HUGS))) Clara
Guest guest
said: WHAT WORKS FOR YOU IS YOUR BUSINESS AND VICE VERSA , you are so right - - - - and that is one of the reasons that TOPS doesn't strictly enforce any one diet on everybody! They RECOMMEND the exchange if you don't have one your doctor gave your or one that you prefer, but they don't INSIST on it by any means! Another reason they changed the rule that you can't belong to any other weight loss organization and still belong to TOPS is that TOPS IS A SUPPORT GROUP - not a medical substitute telling us how to lose weight - just there to cheer us on when we do and help us through the rough spots when we don't! I can't for the life of me understand why anybody wants to pay their money to Weight Watchers, Weigh of Life, LA Weight Loss or any other of those expensive commercial places - - but if they choose to do that, it's their money they are throwing away, not mine. That is also a "CHOICE" . I have a girl in my TOPS group who belongs to LA Weight Loss, she lost her weight and made KOPS, but she struggles much more with her leeway that any of the rest of us - - who try to exercise a sensible lifestyle of eating and don't depend of somebody's "special food"!! BTW, I LOVE your formula: Taco Bell - Exercise = 39# gain!! That fits ALL of us with a little difference in numbers!! Hang in there with YOUR way of eating - - it is definitely working for you - - and I'm going to stick with what works for me, by golly! (((HUGS))) Clara No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Clara, Congrats on your TWO POUND LOSS!!!!! I'm glad to hear that keeping track of calories helped you this week. I started doing that on Wednesday, after weighing in with my miserable gain on Tuesday night. Yesterday, on the way back home from picking up in Wimberley, we ate at Applebee's in Austin... not necessarily because I wanted to eat there, I just couldn't think of anywhere else that had calories listed on the menu. Applebee's has the WW menu, which includes calorie info. If I don't know how many calories are in something... I'm not eating it! Again, congrats on following through with your plan for the week! :-) hugs, Janet
