Guest guest
Done! I'm hoping that they do a repeat urine when I'm in tomorrow and that it has cleared up....at least I'm no longer having the frequent small amounts and the bladder pain. I'm really nauseated still, but that could be the meds. Kathy Latest On Me I had some blood work done several weeks ago, and then got a call from my doctors office saying that my calcium was high, so they wanted to redo the blood work...Needless to say they called me yesterday to say it was still high, so now I have to go in on the 24th for a parathyroid scan....I have run high calcium on and off for years.....I have been having a UTI infection for a long time now....I think I've been on antibiotics four times now....When they did another urine test a week ago, the urine was still showing amounts of blood and protein.....Well, last night I thought I had wet my pants, so went into change them and there was blood in them....The spot was about the size of a half dollar and had gone into my shorts....So I put a pad on for the night....This morning it had some blood in it....I don't hurt like a kidney stone or such, which of course high calcium can cause....I'm getting really frustrated with all this.....So, I guess I have to break down and call my doctor....I know we all have a lot of prayers going for those in the path of Ivan and other things, but if you can squeeze one in for me, I'd sure appreciate it....Luv.... Guest guest
Good old stress incontinence. You've had kids and you're in your 40's (I think? sorry if you're younger, LOL) it's almost inevitable....even with Kegeling like crazy I had had a hyster at 25 which also leaves the vaginal walls without that extra support and had to have an anterior vaginal wall repair done at the age of 36. I was having incontinence when I ran, coughed, lifted, etc. Since the repair I haven't had a problem, except on very rare occasion....usually when my bladder was over full and I got to laughing or something. Let us know about the new med. Kathy RE: Latest On Me Pam - I hope they figure out what is going on with you. Those UTI canb e a pain. Guest guest
Pam, considering the infection, have they checked you for incomplete emptying? It is often associated with the same lack of bladder tone that causes the incontinence, and it can cause UTI's...and usually does. Just a thought. Guest guest
Yeah I turned 44 this year. Telling my age doesn't borther me anymore. lol I had two c-section and when I was 30 I had everything taken out. So yeah its sorta expected with the stress incontinence, especially since Mom & her sisters and Granny all have it. Plus since I'm not on any hormones I get the thinnning of the vaginal walls and have bacterial infections alot. sigh!! I'm on some med right now for the infection and it was over $40 for 3 days worth. whew, it darn well better work. lol
Guest guest
I think they have some relatively new meds that help with the incomplete emptying. Personally, I'd have had the surgery. I know you are high risk, though. With incomplete emptying they most likely will have to put you on a prophalactic dose of antibiotics. Either that or intermmittent catherization...like once or twice a day...to get the stagnant urine out of there. I had alot of patients that we taught to do intermittent self-catherization. They just use extremely tiny caths, so it isn't like when you get cathed at the hospital, and at home it is a clean, rather than a sterile, procedure. Since you have a nurse that comes in she couldn do it for you, but I've taught alot of fairly immobile patients to do it. Guest guest
I was at the Doc yesterday. I'm going to start Augmentin for my sinus infection, and rhinocort for my chronic sinisitis. Then with the pain meds, he said the insurance company might give me problems about the every 2 days instead of three, so we're trying the patches in 50's instead of 25's. If they knock me out or something I'm to go back to the 25's and continue with my breakthrough meds on the third day. I was so nauseated by the time we got down there...but no vomiting, kinda just the wish I would feeling. That's from my sinus infection and being dizzy to start with. It's a weird nausea because I can eat some at mealtime and it doesn''t get worse, but whenever I can I'm in bed wishing I could sleep (this is during the day and other hours that I usually don't sleep) so I wouldn't feel so nauseated.
