Hi :

When were you interviewed in the Star and Trib? We get the paper here in

Appleton, WI at our library and I would love to read about it. Plus my

mother in law lives in Eden Prairie and would like to tell her about your

story. Isn't it amazing how our children lives have changed our out look on

things. Like you being a private person, but look at you now for being a

spokesperson for those who can't speak and for many parents who accept what

is told to us by the professionals. Shots are important but when I heard

about this new shot coming out I got worried about children who may have a

major reaction if their body just can't handle it. I'm proud of you and all

that you are doing not only for the State of Minnesota but for other parents

out there who will read your message and take it to their states.

Best of Luck with your project!! My son also started having neuro

symptoms after vaccination. I bet other listmates also have kids who

had problems with vaccinations as well.

It could have been the mercury preservative in the shots (thimerosal).

Organic mercury is a known neurotoxin and can cause mitochondrial

dysfunction also. The amount of mercury in the shots exceeded the

safety limit based on weight by 150 times!!! In a recent publication,

Gilbert (an expert in neurotoxicity) called for a reduction in the

accepted reference dose from 0.1 microgram/kg/day to 0.025

microgram/kg/day. If these new stricter guidelines were applied, the

maximum allowable dose of organic mercury for the average two-month-old

weighing 5 kg would be 0.125 mcg. The 62.5 mcg of mercury (from the

HepB, Hib, and DTaP vaccines) that was routinely injected into infants

at two months of age was 500 times that limit.

My almost did not get to begin Kindergarden because she was so behind on her shots. Not because I did not take her to get them but because she was so effected by them. We were almost through Kin. when she finally got her last ones. At that time we had no idea about the mito and did not find out until last year and is 12.

Have a good day!

Hi everyone! I made it!!!!! went in friday we showed up an hour

early as there was no traffic and a good thing as they ended up

wanting to take me in early I was in the OR bfore 11:15 an hour

early. Surgery had no complications and then by 5 I was in my own

room, Unfortunately that is when my horror story begins!!!! I had

teh WORST care ever at Portland Adventist! The nurses were rude

wouldn't get me any water, yelled at me and said I was moving too

slowly ( Oh sorry I have a catheder hanging out of me, I am doped on

morphine and I just had my guts rearranged )They would put my " clean

beedding and my robe on the floor walk over them then put them on

me! Left me alone for LOOOOONG periods of time 4-6 hours where no

one would check in on me. Unfortunatly my family were mostly up in

washington with my mom who also just had a different surgery so I

really didn't have anyone there to stick up for me. I came home

early so I could get out of there!

I am feeling much better today after finally getting some sleep last

night,

I DO WANT TO THANK SANDRA Turchan ANd LINDA for coming in saturday

and seeing me that was very speicial and ment ALOT TO ME!!!!!!!

So far no problems am eating between 1 - 1.5 oz a meal, carnation

instant breakfast, cottage cheese, refried beans mixed in tonight

(hopfully that will settle!)

Good luck to everyone still waiting for this wonderful tool, I still

have no regrets- the rewards are soooo much bigger than these little

problems right now. Keep in touch

Hi and congratulations on your big step. I'm an RN, an a wls in

waiting. I wanted to tell you that you need to complain to the hospital. Most

have patient advocates to talk to. The issue of bedding on the floor is awful,

and definitely should be brought to the attention of infection control. The

rudeness is inexcusable. I know that there is a nursing shortage, but the

accreditation reviews happen just the same, and it these things were noted by a

Federal survey, the hospital would be in big trouble. At the very least, find

out the name of the CEO, and send a letter of protest.

Hey Shirley

I am going through the process with Pacific Bariatric in San Diego, In fact

I am from riverside. I have Blue Shield and I finished my classes with

Beaver Medical back in December. that was a 5 month class. I went to the

seminar in San Diego in March. they have you fill out the questionnaire and

take a test. As far as paperwork, my doctor was pretty quick at faxing

everything over to them. One suggestion I had previous heard is that you

get the copies of the paperwork and either take it down there yourself or

fax it yourself. The staff there will ask you how you want to procedure

done, via lap or open and chose a doctor for you, then schedule a marathon

of appointments . My doctor is Dr. . Who seemingly takes so

long to do paperwork. My hold up is her paperwork now. I have been waiting

a month for her to review my paperwork and schedule a date. I did find a

website of the patients that had it at Pacific Bariatric. e-mail me and I

will forward them on to you. It is wonderful to here from someone out here

that is going to San Diego. I hope to continue our conversations. You may

e-mail me at seekhimfirst2003@... or jphillips@...

it took my incision nearly 5 weeks to completely close. when i talked to my

nurse and dr. about it they said that was nothing unnormal. people heal

differently. as long as there is no reddness or fever it was ok. also depends

on

whether you have diabetes or not. i didn't but still took me a little longer.

just have to be patient, but i would still check with your dr. or PCP. take

care and God bless!

Where are you from in Wisconsin I'm in s Point, and we have a terrific

support group that meets once a month and also has a Yahoo group. I know that

there are others in the state, I think Wausau and Eau also have a group.

I am pre op, but finally got my surgery date, and I'm excited. I was quite

surprised at all of the support people there are here, and the post op

counseling that's available.

(unknown)

Hi everyone, I am just turning 33 and from Wisconsin, and i first

just wanted to say that I am really glad I came across this website.

We do not have a supporst group in our community for gastric bypass

patients and was wondering where I was gonna turn for all the

questions I had and support I may need. Second, can anyone tell me

if it is normal to still have openings in the incision from an open

RNY after almost 4 weeks? I asked my surgeon, but she more or less

blew off the question and said that i was doing fine. And if you are

wondering I started out at 357 and am now at 322. YIPEEEEE!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Thank you for the information . I am from Antigo and the

procedure is fairly new here. (I believe they have only been doing

it here for about 7 months now) I have had very good pre-op teaching

but now it just seems like there isn't much for me. Maybe I will

check into the group in Wausau. Congrats on getting your date!

Starlet,

Don't let that get you down. That is a major major step you are taking. I

think it would be normal to be a little anxious getting prepared for the

surgery. Hang in there, you are going to do fine.
