Guest guest
Hi Lola, I would love to hear how your follow-up appointment goes. I had my septum resected with a hyst only on 11/26, and my doctor said he usually doesn't do ANY follow-up, but I should wait 3 cycles to TTC. I insisted on making sure the septum is really gone (since I've had 4 mc and don't think I can deal with another), so he said after 3 cycles I can have an in office SHG. I am very inpatiently waiting... So please tell us how your follow up goes and what your doctor says about TTC. Thanks! I feel sort of guilty and sad that I did not do more research after the first or second mc to discover my MA. I think I just trusted my docs a little too much. Naive on my part. Now I know differently. After the 3rd MC I finally saw an RE who ordered a battery of tests and discovered I had a MA. Then I had an MRI which came back as BU and my RE told me to go ahead and TTC, that the previous 3 mc were just " bad luck " since all my other tests came back normal. I got pg that month, the same month I decided to meet with the radiologist to review the MRI so I could see the extent of the BU. Well it turned out to be an SU, not BU. The ill-informed radiologist admitted that whenever they see 2 uterine cavities they usually report BU. I asked to see the dip in the fundus on the MRI and he showed me a flat fundus, which indicates SU. I mc #4 shortly after. It was pretty devastating, but somehow I made it through. I had to wait 3 months after the D & C to have the septum resection, now another 3 months to TTC again. All this waiting is tough...I am just hoping that since I got pg easily in the past I won't have to wait too much longer. I got AF 31 days after the surgery (after 30 days of estrogen), so I am hopeful my cycles will get right back on track. I'm hoping for my followup SHG at the end of February. Thanks for you kind thoughts. Good luck on Thursday! Ronna
Guest guest
(((Ronna))) I am so sorry about all you have been through. It has been a long road to get here for you. I hope these months pass by quickly for you so you can TCC again. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get preggo's right away!
Guest guest
Ronna, I was so sad to read about your miscarriages. Please don't feel like you did anything wrong. MAs are so extremely rare. And it is not uncommon for people who do not have MAs to have numerous miscarriages. My mom had three miscarriages and I am 99.99% positive she doesn't have an MA (My MA is due to DES exposure and is not inherited.) You doctors should have been smart enough to check for an MA, not you. The important thing is that you are on the right track now. I'm so glad you are a part of this group! I hope that this next year goes quickly for you and that you have a baby in your arms soon. Best wishes, Mikell Re: question about Follow up appt after resection (mc ment) >did you have to go through 4 m/c in order to find out there was a >problem? that sounds brutally painful- i hope and pray for the >best for you. ill write on thursday! > > Lola Hi Lola, I had 3 mc before they finally did an HSG and discovered an MA. Guest guest
nah - First, congratulations on your pregnancy! I, like many other women on this board, can relate to the torn emotions - happy, yet terrified. Take comfort in the success stories and ignore the really scary stats! I am 15 weeks (yeah) pregnant, with a complete septum. I posted several times on this board during my first trimester re: fear. I don't think there is a way " not to worry " , but always remember that so many women with a septum have normal, or almost normal, outcomes. Several of my doctors think that there are more success stories than we know of - so many women have normal pregnancies and never know they had an MA! Do you know if your 1st M/C was related to the SU? There is always the chance it was unrelated ... . Best of luck and keep us up-dated. I'm still terrifed about this pregnancy, but as someone else posted recently, I take it week by week, every week is a victory. Maybe by week 40 I will start to really believe that I might have a baby ... Take care, a 35 SU 15wks, 1 day
