Guest guest
Hi Kaye, What about Sonny Elliot, Cobo Hall, Tiger Stadium, below ground level expressways, signs that tallied car plant production quantities by the minute, Hamtramck, Polish street signs, the Rouge plant, Greenfield village, Telegraph Ave. on Friday night, the money museum at the National Bank of Detroit, Hell Night . . Many many years ago I lived there for a little while. The toys in the tea box were ceramic figures of endangered animals over a hundred different ones I think. I'm not a collector but I should have been, I'll bet a full collection will be worth a few bucks in a few years. Have a great Sunday, best wishes, Poncho - GA

By the way, Jerry Hodak is still with WXYZ, or I should say back with WXYZ, and is still cute, has hardly changed a bit. Sonny Elliot still does the weather, only on the radio now, just listened to him yesterday. My mother grew up in Hamtramck. As you can see, I do know about all these things Sharon in MI > >

Guest guest
In a message dated 12/16/01 3:58:56 PM Eastern Standard Time, roguekc@... writes: > " the Rouge plant " ? > The River Rouge Plant that belonged to Ford, part of it still does I think. It was a big smokestack plant that incorporated an on site steel mill and at least two production lines, one for cars and one for trucks. At it's peak I think about 30,000 workers went through the gate daily and sometimes it ran 24/7. I think Ford has spun off a company called Rouge Steel that rolls sheet steel for the auto industry and that company now runs part of the Rouge complex. The site was named after the Rouge River which runs along the site and then into the Detroit River that connects Lake Huron, Lake St. , and then into Lake Erie. The " Rouge " plant was something to see for its massive size, it's billowing smoke stacks, it's endless employee parking lots, and the parking lots for the finished products. The plant was a Ford icon for years and a monument to the heyday of large automative plants in this country. I have a cousins husband that painted truck fenders there for thirty years. He began holding a spray gun connected to a can of paint and ended as a mechanic that set up and serviced the robots that now do the electrostatic spray painting. Thirty years on truck fenders YIKES!!! It's hard to find anyone in Detroit that doesn't know someone who works at the " Rouge " Trivia . . trivia . . trivia Best wishes to all Poncho - GA
