Have you checked about Medicare buying you a scooter? contacted The Scooter Store (online & phone); they contacted Medicare & Mother's doc & she has an electric wheelchair now. The Scooter Store people talked her through the process.

I want a recliner so bad & there's no room for one. What I'm thinking about is getting rid of the couch & just have a double recliner or 2 recliners. says we can't do it while we have pets that may ruin new furniture, but I don't think will ever be without pets.

I love leather furniture. Also, there are protective cream & salves you can rub into (takes forever, rather like polishing shoes) the leather that form a protective barrier so that oils & things don't soak in as easily. I think the kind we use is called Leatherman.
