Guest guest
Dear Birgit, It's terrible that you are having such a hard time with eating. I don't know if anyone asked you this before, but are you on enzyme supplements? If not, you should have your doctor prescribe them, and if you are on them and they aren't helping, you may need a higher dosage. I can tell you what I eat, which is a lot, as long as it is low-fat and under 20 grams daily, but it sounds as though many foods are bothering you. I have a Forman grilling machine, as well as a cooktop grill and outdoor grill, so we grill 12 months out of the year where we llve, chicken breasts, turkey cuts, fish, pork tenderloin. Sometimes I bake the fish or chicken, or boil the chicken. I never use oil or butter and use a spread made from yogurt in place of butter, sparingly (Brummel & Brown). I eat at least two vegetables, sometimes more, with each dinner, and one veggie (leftover) for lunch, with soup, either homemade or some of the s low-fat choices or a tuna, turkey or tomato sandwich with reduced fat mayo (1 gm). We eat a lot of potatos, bread, pasta, pita bread, brown organic rice, all kinds of beans, no fat or reduced fat cheeses. Breakfast is either fruit and a bagel, grits, corn, oat or wheat flakes or an english muffin with a fruit spread. I snack on fruits, dried fruit mixtures, no-fat pudding, jello, applesauce with some cinnamon sprinkled in (not too much, though, as it constipates), no fat pretzels or fruited yogurts. I drink water, water and more water, raspberry iced tea and fruit juices, coffee with breakfast (not the best for me but a hard habit to break). I seldom drink any carbonated beverages, they make me feel too full and burpy. I've had to learn to read the nutrient labels of everything I buy very carefully, you can have two packages in front of you, both claiming to be the same, yet one can have 1 gm of fat and the other will have 5 gms. You should just try to add something more, something new, in small quantities to see what your system can tolerate. Eat small portions of something several times a day other than concentrating on three major meals. My stomach often hurts when it's hungry, a small snack will stop that ache. I don't know if this has been of any help to you. I do hope you can find and tolerate some more substancial food! If I weren't taking the enzymes I would be back to your status like I was before, and I know how miserable a place that was. Hopefully someone else will throw in their suggestions, too. I had to start back into the eating and tolerating food process slowly, so I suggest you try it slowly, increasing just a little more each day, to see how you do. It's been nine months now, and I've still onlly gained back 8 pounds. Good luck. With hope and prayers, Heidi in SC What > are you all eating as meals, could you give me some examples, what to eat for > breakfast, lunch and dinner, chicken rice? Guest guest
G'day all; I'm just curious about others' experience here. My partner never complains, but I know he misses sitting down and eating together in the evening. Also, I used to cook all the time - loved doing it, and experimenting; was actually a pretty good cook. Now, I have little-to-no desire to cook at all, and since I'm only eating small snacks every other day or so, I just don't cook a meal in the evening. Also, I seldom have enough energy to " shop " for foodstuffs, nor energy to plan a meal. He's been very patient, and nukes a lot of leftovers for himself, does fast food on the way home from work, or once in a great while I'll go ahead and cook something, though it certainly lacks the enthusiasm that it once had, and it's pretty obvious. " Here. I microwaved a burrito for you. Sorry it's hard. <---slings hot plate across bar and leaves room.) Hahaha... Okay, just kidding, but that's sometimes how I fear it feels. How about you others?? DO you have creative solutions to make mealtime with family pleasant and rewarding, not just for them but yourself as well? I've done a few really FINE meals, only to watch and nibble on my salad, or even try to eat though there's no room in my belly and I know what it might mean to me in ten minutes or so - neither situation ideal. You creative folks, jump in! I hope you are all well today, Peace and Love, Terry in KC << Eat small portions of something several times a day other than concentrating on three major meals. >>
Guest guest
: My husband has also had to do his own meal preparations too often. And I, too, used to love to cook. -E
Guest guest
Although it's been over eight years and he certainly knows about my condition, my husband still chastises me for not eating very much. -E
Guest guest
-Hi, I have learned to cook for them and then cook for me. But there are three others besides me. I cook a steak for them and then a piece of chicken for me (cluck cluck). The other stuff I cooked so I can eat it. Potatoes ,ect. Of course low fat. Guest guest
I am very lucky my husband understands that I just cant eat a lot. We went out with friends on Saturday night. I ate and have paid for it ever since so its not worth it. Its better to have friends for an evening after supper.
