Guest guest
Hi , Wow what a year it is . I am with you is it ever going to end with all the bad news here lately. As you know I do have intestine problems big time too.And yes I do agree with the Dr. everyone should have a yearly check up after cancer was found in a family member .My personal Joyce would be to remove part of the intestines .There for the most likely would get all the bad ones at once. And yes you can have a normal life after getting some of the intestine removed .That is one thing we all have plenty off, I ought to know I hade the surgery now 3 times already. And each time the take more intestine .And yes Mike should have a test done too if he likes it or not. Sorry but it does run sometimes in the family. Sorry I cant be of much more help right now. Keep us informed on his problems please . Just remember it will get better and please also take care of your self too . Love you Heidi .. Guest guest
Heidi, Mike's brother is mentally retarded and the doctor doesn't think he will be able to handle the bag thing. What is that called?? Geez, my mind is mush now. They are talking about removing his colon or intestines, whatever it is that lets you poop and putting a bag on the side to empty the waste into. He couldn't handle it. He would have to empty it as often as was needed and the risk of infection would probably be very high too because of his mental state. I'm searching the web right now for some kind of answers. Thank you Heidi for helping me. It just seems that life keeps throw out stuff every few weeks and I'm really getting quite tired of trying to deal with it all. Enough is enough for one year for goodness sake. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hi , Wow what a year it is . I am with you is it ever going to end with all the bad news here lately. Guest guest
Hi I was scoped in August and even though it wasn't the most pleasant experience in my life, I don't regret it...With colon cancer being one of the most notorious, because everyone is so 'embarrassed' to having a scope done, I wouldn't take a chance on not knowing if I might have cancer or not... personally I would opt for options 1 or 2... better to get it over with than wait and wonder when cancer will strike,... and then the possibility of overcoming the disease is lessened dramatically. If he has the surgery of option 1 will he have to have a colostomy (an exterior bag to collect the waste)? and, with option 2 what kind of odds did the doctor give that the polyps won't return? In any case, I think Mike's brother will need to be scoped regularly to be sure the polyps don't return... At work, we receive requests for information from patient charts, from geneticists conducting studies on hereditary cancers, and colon cancer is one of them. Try to convince Mike to have the colonoscopy, it's the lesser of two evils, trust me... take care and let us know what happens luv Carmela ************************** > >Reply-To: Rpolychondritisegroups >To: <Rpolychondritisegroups>, <autoimmuneegroups> >Subject: I need some help please >Date: Mon, 16 Oct 2000 19:38:44 -0400 > >I have questions for people that have had colonoscopy done please. >Mike has a mentally disabled brother who just had a scope done and they >found around 100 precancerous polps. >The doctor is STRONGLY recommending that his father, mother, Mike and his >sister all be scoped now. Geez! >> Dear - First thing I would do is get a second opinion. He would not necesaarily have to have another test as you can get the " pictures " and slides from the first doctor along with the typed reports. My Mother died of colon cancer and I have a colonoscopy every 3 years...I do believe in preventive medicine. 11 years ago I had a " routine " mammography and they found cancer and I am still here to talk about it....you are in my prayers JanetG
Guest guest
, Rich had a colonoscopy done about 6 months ago. He said there was no pain involved at all. They found a few polyps and removed them while they were there. Please have Mike have this done. do it NOW and prevent any thing further from developing. I wish I had an answer for your brother in law...... I don't. Of course I'm not thinking very clearly now, maybe tomorrow.LOL Hugs
