Another blood clot??

Okay, I'm a little freaked out here. My right leg has begun hurting

again and I've mentioned to hubby a few times that it feels like another

blood clot. However, my Dr. says " you're not supposed to " be able to

get another clot if you're on Coumadin and your blood is staying at the

appropriate thickness level. So I really haven't been too worried about

it. Well, lo and behold, this morning I wake up and a very big area on

my calf (right above my ankle bone on the inside of the calf) was bright

red and hurting. UGH!!!!! My GP is on call today at the hospital so I

know I should go in to see about it (plus, I'm almost out of my Tylenol

#3 and I need another RX), but today is hubby's staff barbecue and I

don't know how I'll work that. I suppose I should get off this darned

computer and go. LOL. That would be too easy. Anyway, I'll fill you

in further, if I go see about it.

TTFN (ta-ta for now).

I would think you would know what a blood clot feels like. Has the doctor

ever had one??? : ) Did he ask to see you? I am concerned. Go to the

hospital if it gets worse.....

The problem kinda is, Zanna, that the veins still hurt - even on the Coumadin. And then, sludge breaks off, too and hurts like heck! Last time I had an ultrasound, the tech showed me pieces of the old clot still in the vein. The coumadin keeps the blood thin so clots can't form, the body must deal with getting rid of the clot. But the fact it was red and hot...that's not good...boy, if she went to the BBQ and not the doc....in the words of Jackie Gleason - "Pow, right to the moon!"

I will, Zanna. I think I'll call in the AM and just run it by her and see if

she thinks it's possible. I'll tell her the symptoms and she may want me to

get an ultrasound on it ASAP. I'll be good, I promise....

My docs have never once said to me that you CAN'T get another clot. I've never thought to research it, if anything is available on line about repeaters while on coumadin. But anything is possible, good and bad, which is why I'm so anxious for you to get thyself to the doctors!!!!

I bet we do look small from the moon...the only time in my life I shall look small...and look at what I have to go through to look small, Mz Dawn!! Stubborn child!

Call doctor tomorrow and tell us what's going on!! I have my own reasons to find out how you're doing...so post as soon as you can!

Hugs,

Lynn

Hi, Lynnie-Pooh. As I mentioned in my previous post, the Dr. didn't

seem too concerned about it being another clot, since I'm on Coumadin

anyway. She seemed to think as long as my INR was at an acceptable

level, there was nothing to worry about. I see my GP on Wedn. for a

pap, so I'll specifically ask her what would happen in the event you did

get another clot while on Coumadin. Why can't anything be simple??

LOL.
