Guest guest
how many olives and almonds ? hyperglycemia? Now I am getting paranoyed. I think I have been eating too much because I am not getting hypoglycemia. I am not hungry because I constantly have olives around and almonds. I drink all day long. Water, Diet Rite, Crystal light, and all. I am hoping that I am doing this right. Now, I am worried that I am working the wrong way. What do you think?Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Guest guest
I get really hungry! So I eat a can of olives in one day. I eat a good couple of handfuls of almonds. I would have to round out the almonds to about 20 of them. I have had to ricotta cheese with cocoa powder twice today. I love it.. It tastes great! I had my lentil soup but read on a website that Dr Agatston said lentils were ok as they have protein. That was about all for my second day on this. I am just worried I am eating too much. With a medication I take, I get ravenous. So I have to turn to olives or some kind of decent snack to handle it. Follow the plan as outlined in the book and trust that it will work. You aren't going to starve to death, nor are you going to be eating any strange or wierd combinations of foods. You will have to do more planning and cooking, and you will be eating wholesome foods. Follow the directions, blindly if you must, but trust that it is all good. -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@... I ate far more food on Phase 1 than I ever did when I was pregnant, and I lost weight. So my advice is, if you are hungry, eat. You get to eat any of the food on the Foods to Enjoy list, in the quantity that satisfies you. I ate tons of cheese and sliced meats, huge salads with meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, crab, and anything else that is SB Friendly. Eat all three meals and all the snacks. Enjoy what you eat! Eat if you are hungry! -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@... Guest guest
--- Trish, If you are eating lots of allowed veggies, and getting in allowed dairy, you are doing fine. A serving of a green veggie (1/2 C cooked/1 cup Raw contains approx 5 gms of carbohydrate. One cup of milk contains 12 gms of carbohydrate. This is not a 'diet' where your carbs are so restricted or that will spike that your blood sugars making them fluctuate; instead its designed to get the 'crap' out encouraging you to eat lots of healthy foods w/ adequate carbs for energy and body function. Please portion your nuts in individual bags and when you are hungry/munchy don't run to them immediately. Eat some lean protein, have an ounce of 2% cheese, munch on some raw pepper strips or other veggies and moderate those tasty nuts. Drink your water, and after a snack, get busy, get your mind off of food for awhile. It will get easier. Guest guest
---You had very few vegetables in your day. No wonder you are hungry. You need fiber for fullness and for elimination. Constipation is NOT a good thing. Do you have the book? Have you printed the allowed foods list? Do you make meals? Both the nuts and the olives are way over in consumption. You need to do more research in how to do this 'right'. Kay In South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right , " trish_lobato " <trish_lobato@y...> wrote: > I get really hungry! Guest guest
You are only allowed to have 15 olives and 15 nuts. Nuts can be a real diet buster. They are very high in calories and very addictive to stop eating. They tend to stop a dieter from losing if you consume too many. Olives are in the oil category and you are only allowed to have 15 a day. You might want to put your food into www.fitday.com and see how many calories and what nutrition you are getting each day. That might help you know if you are eating too much or not. Carol Re: hyperglycemia? I get really hungry! So I eat a can of olives in one day. I eat a good couple of handfuls of almonds. Guest guest
I am not even sure what you are saying. Hyperglycemia is diabetes. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar. You are not supposed to be hungry. ann > Now I am getting paranoyed. I think I have been eating too much > because I am not getting hypoglycemia. Guest guest
You shouldn't have a can of olives a day. I would have to look up the exact figure, but it's supposed to be more like 15 olives a day. And for nuts, I'd have to look up the exact number, but it's about 1/4 cup a day. That's it. Yes, the lentils and ricotta cheese are fine. But, I'd not go over the serving size allowed on ricotta. Again I'd have to look that up, but I think that is around 1/3 cup. Try making the roasted chickpeas for a snack. You can have all the beans you want. ann > I get really hungry!
