Tinq,

Athough I am a (inactive) Methodist, I thought this Church was excessively

hospitable to steppism -- I remember when I was both an active churchgoer

and doing step service stuff (1985 - 6) going with other steppers to see the

church social responsibility group to " clue them in " about addiction. I

was embarrassed by the sheer arrogance displayed by some of the steppers on

this occasion, though it was only typical -- claims to uniqueness of insight

into addiction made by vulgar dispargement of medical professionals and

similar anti-intellectual affirmations of " our " invincibility in the

recovery biz. The Methodist's rooms were widely used by NA, AA and Coda,

the local groups which in my case helped to destroy the very marriage that

was consecrated in the same Church when my wife and I reached the parting of

the ways due to her brainwashed devotion to XA.

Best wishes,

.

Dear Doug,

The only person I have known in my life (56 years) of life who I woud

consider worthy of the name " human " was my aunt, who was Methodist and a

woman who loved without judgment, who seemed to umderstand the human

condition amd accepted all she met with a spirit of kindness. That she

would be the same no matter what her affiliation I have no doubt.

However, this spirit may be found in all faths and this open sentiment

may lead to a fascism that the open-minded are powerless against.

The Steppers are not concerned with decency, justice, mercy, knowledge,

fairness, kindness, or brotherly love; they are concened with the lowest

of the low showing the world that they ar the " chosen " of " god " to lead

the world.

I've been` there, 20 + years....`..I know what I'm talkin' about. Even

some of the members don't have a clue...

The losers, the angry, the self-rightous are the ones to be feared, the

ignorant, the gullible are the ones in AA who woul claim knowledge...the

anwersto life....for all.

It looks like they may pull it off....but`,of course, if` the` insurance

companies give` up and the fighters for constitutional` rights of

separation church and state fight against this travesty of reason,

there may be hope against the insanity of " groupism. "

Dear Doug,

As an addendum to my previous message, because I am so anti-AA, I

neglegted the misery that AA has caused to your marriage.

I am sorry. I left a marriage, also, after joiining AA. It has been

twenty years and I still sometimes wonder if I did the right thing.

Tinq --

it's a difficult (to put it mildly) matter. I was left standing when the

marriage left me -- I'm getting nearer being over it (only four years in),

but I'll probably never know how we might have made out if XA hadn't been

there with the boot in -- usual sponsor sh*t -- you must leave to protect

your recovery, full XA back-up crew so's my ex is effectively encouraged to

walk out and into the arms of the group. She now has some 12step pigeon in

tow -- all very sick.

Yours

.

Darci, Thanks for your advice, sometimes i feel like I am talking about

everything that has happened too much and then other times i get mad at myself

for not talking more, but just knowing you guys are here if I need it helps me

feel soooo much better, because you know exactly what I am going through. Do you

happen to have any ideas for a way to memorialize our baby since we didn't get

to have a funeral. It has been really heavy on my mind lately. I would love to

hear any ideas from you or anyone. Thanks, ----Keri

evaluations/testings - hearing tests, speech/language

testing/congnitive tests, CT scans/MRIs, etc.). The surgeon we are

seeing is Dr. Greg Licamelli and the audiologist is Dr. Marilyn Nault

(Director of Audiology). Does anyone have any experience with either

of these doctors?

McC,

Welcome to listen-up. You have found a group of very knowledgeable parents.

I'm afraid I'll ask more questions than provide answers.

How long has Cameron been struggling with hearing?

Does he use hearing aids?

You mentioned showing us his typonogram. If you attached it, it was deleted

by the list serve for security reasons. Can you tell us his loss? It seems

like the sounds that really bother him may be in the same frequencies.

was bothered by similar sounds when her map on her Cochlear Implant

was overstimulating her auditory nerve (her loss is inner ear and different

than Cameron's.) Do you have an audiogram on him yet?

Tahna- We are already privately providing the services she ought to be

receiving, such as several hours a week with a SP, a lot of home instruction

(Grandma is a teacher) and more positive socialisation through Campfire and

Awana

programs. If we relied on the school we really would be in trouble! We are

fortunate in that our family is all very involved in Tori's education- OSPI

made the observation that we are already pretty much home schooling her.

District families traditionally have relocated to outlying districts to obtain

appropriate services but that is not an option for us, for a variety of reasons.

If

we were not able to provide what we do now I would probably re- think our

position on moving, but for now I would rather stay and fight. I certainly do

understand why other parents relocate (again, there are so many variables at

play in making that decision) and in fact I know several families that have had

to do just that. As I said before, we do have a lot of local advocates on our

side so we will just have to see what we can do...Thanks-
