I too developed pancreatitis when my gallbladder was removed.

From what I've read, that is not so rare.

In some cases that's because of stones that left the gallbladder.

Nothing takes the place of the gallbladder. It was the storage tank for the

bile and other digestive juices. They are now free flowing in the system.
