Hi everyone:

I am copying you on the reply that I just received from

Dr. Sutherland:

<<Hi Ms Grove,

If you have intractable pain from pancreatitis, nothing else has worked,

you would be a candidate for total pancreatectomy, thoughmost likely it

would convert you from type 2 to type 1 diabetes(an islet autograft might

keep you type 2). This is approach is discussed in an article by Wahoff et

al. in ls of Surgery, Nov 1995.

Hope this helps you,

Sutherland, M.D.>>
