Guest guest
My husband gets very sick after eating the Kirkland brand of trail mix, the sams club one too. The only one he seems ok with is Plantars Brand and one from the Blue Chip Group. Jonyce > I had what I thought was the flu last night and this morning. Now I'm wondering if I was " glutened. " I bought the Kirkland brand of trail mix from Costco that has M & Ms in it and I have been seriously chowing down since I bought it on Saturday afternoon. It has the warning that it is packaged on equipment that also packages products that contain wheat. I've never paid much attention to that before, but maybe since I ate so darn much of it I reacted. I think I will have to test this again after my " flu " goes away. > > Question - has anyone ever gotten chills and nausea from being " glutened " ? Guest guest
Is your husband celiac/gluten intolerant? Or is it just something in their mix? Guest guest
He is celiac! His experience was kind of like yours. He was getting really sick and couldn't figure out why. He had just switched jobs and didn't have a lot of time for lunch so he had bought a couple of bags of the trail mix and was eating that for lunch every day. Sure enough as soon as we cut it out he got better. Like I said, Plantars has a bag we get at Wal-Mart that he does fine with and it doesn't have the warning on it. Guest guest
I had tried these shortly after going gf. I reacted something awful. : ( I was at a point where I reacted quickly and severely to even the tiniest trace of gluten, so I can't tell you if they have a lot of contamination or only a little. Btw, my 16 year old used to get flu- like symptoms from being glutened. Your mentioning this made me realize that reaction has disappeared in him. Guest guest
Wow! I will stay away from those evil things! But they're soooooooo yummy! ;oP Glad your son is better! Although I personally find it easier to stay away from food when it makes me feel sick. I might be more tempted to cheat if I don't feel the results. Hope your son doesn't think like me. ) Trudy -------------- Original message -------------- I had tried these shortly after going gf. I reacted something awful.
