It's in vaccines, processed cheese, fluoridated water, some canned goods (if in

aluminum cans as opposed to steel), from aluminum cookware, in baking powder

(unless labelled as aluminum-free) and therefore in baked goods, among other

thins.

I really don't know where the exposure is coming from.
Andy asked if he had any amalgams, which he doesn't.
What are the typical sources of aluminum? Shampoos,
soaps, detergents perhaps?
I contacted a former doctor of mine and requested a copy of a hair

analysis that he ordered in 1998. BTW, this doctor worked in a

very " high profile " alternative medicine office in New York City. At

the time, he told me there was no reason to have my amalgams

removed. Knowing what I know now, it looks to my newbie eye like he

was dead wrong.

I plan to have a new hair analysis done through DDI within the next

week, but I'd really appreciate comments on these numbers. Is this

what is meant in the counting rules as minerals " scattered " all over?

This elemental hair analysis done by Great Smokies, not DDI.

Scattered can mean high or low. You've got as many low as normal. Ideally we

have all in the normal range. Does the test you had done show colors and actual

numbers as well as reference ranges? I think it was GSDL for which Andy also

had counting back before they changed their test. Yours should be old enough to

apply them.

Hi,

I had been focused on the DDI tests on the counting rules page. In the

meantime, I found Andy's rules for interpreting a Great Smokies test.

Since this test is from 1998, it is before things changed, so his rules

apply. According to what I come up with this " profile " is highly suspicious

for mercury poisoning! You know, it still amazes me that my doctor knew

enough to test me for this, but didn't have a clue as to how to interpret

the results. This test was 5 years ago, so that's an additional 5 years of

unnecessary suffering. All told, I've spent thousands of dollars for the

privilege of not getting well -- not only with this guy, but with others as

well. I know it's common, but sometimes it just blows my mind.

Few docs know how to interepret hair analyses now either. Frustrating, but

true.

Was this a DDI test or some other lab? If it was DDI hair elements rather than

toxic elements we also need essential elements info. We need reference ranges

(and colors if this test has colors) to have any idea how to interpret this.

Keep in mind that a hair elements is much more useful so one can apply the

counting rules. Why does the doc want to wait to chelate? I presume your son

has NO mercury amalgam dental fillings. If he has any you have to have them

removed by a mercury-free dentist using proper protocol before you can safely

chelate. Is he on any supplements? What are you currently doing? What's his

diet like? What are his most troublesome symptoms/behaviors? How old is he?

Consider identifying and reducing/removing sources of exposure to toxins.

www.danasview.net has a list of sources of exposure. Please read the FAQs of

this list (autism treatment) to educate yourself about the various chelators and

recommended doses and dosing schedule so you'll know

if the doc is suggesting a safe and appropriate protocol.

S S

Here are my son's hair analysis results:
Aluminum 9.9
Antimony 0.89
Arsenic 0.066
Beryllium <0.01
Bismuth 0.015
Cadmium 0.25
Lead 0.81
Mercury 0.04
Platinum <0.003
Thallium <0.001
Thorium <0.001
Uranium 0.004
Nickel 0.08
Silver 0.09
Tin 0.14
Titanium 1.6
Our DAN! is suggesting chelation in 2-3 months. Should I do anything
else in the meantime?
I would appreciate any advice anyone has regarding these results.
Thank-you,
