You're lucky re: the meds. Understand, though, that when your sugar

goes high, you've maxed out your pancreas's ability to produce insulin

and therefore are stressing it. I was probably a mild type II in the

beginning but my doc missed it for at least 2 years. The high sugar

damaged my pancreas to the point that now I'm for all practical

purposes a Type I. So take care of that l'il booger while it's still

working :-)

One thing about milk. It contains lots of Lactose. Per Bernstein,

you can do what I do - dilute either heavy cream or half and half with

water back to normal milk strength. This dilutes the milk sugar while

maintaining the taste and texture. I don't like milk by itself so I

don't drink it plain. But the quantity of diluted cream it takes for

a bowl of cereal does not affect the amount of insulin I calculate I

need for just the cereal.
