Guest guest
My son shows high in Antimony as well as mercury. Will DMSA effectively chelate Antimony? How does one become high in Antimony - from plastics?? Thanks for any input.
Guest guest
Not a typo, SAM-e (pronounced Sammy) stands for S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine and is available at HFS. I've only found enteric coated tablets. Do the DMSA for lead, providing he doesn't have any amalgam fillings. > Have you figured out and eliminated your son's sources of exposure to antimonay & lead? That's crucial. > S Recently we did a hair analyis on our 3.10 year old autistic son and <BR> it came back high in lead and very high (100 times the labs limit <BR> for normal) in Antimony.<BR> <BR> We are about to start chelation therapy but would like to know two <BR> things if any of you can help us.<BR> <BR> First, will DSMA remove Antimony? The FAQ on the website <BR> says " Antimony: Use SAMe, 5 mg a day per pound of kid in divided <BR> doses. Or you can use the " poor man's methylating mix " of B-12 (100 <BR> mcg per pound), folate (10 mcg per pound) and TMG or choline (10-20 <BR> mg per pound). Spread these through the day. They may be energizing <BR> so you might want to give them in the earlier part of the day. " <BR> <BR> Is there some chemical " SAMe " or is that a typo and should <BR> read " same " ?<BR> <BR> Secondly, should we be concerned about the high Antimony reading and <BR> try to address this first or should we just chelate with DMSA first <BR> and remove what metals we can, then perhaps address Antomony later?<BR> <BR> Thanks for any help you can give;<BR> <BR> Tony s<BR> =======================================================<BR>
Guest guest
> First, will DSMA remove Antimony? The most effective intervention to remove antimony, from what I have read of the experiences of other parents, is to remove the current sources of exposure. Scroll down here http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm > Is there some chemical " SAMe " or is that a typo and should > read " same " ? You can buy SAMe at a local health food store. > > Secondly, should we be concerned about the high Antimony reading and > try to address this first or should we just chelate with DMSA first > and remove what metals we can, then perhaps address Antomony later? I would consider removing sources first, or at the same time as using DMSA. I don't believe they are mutually exclusive. Dana
Guest guest
Hi Tony, my son had very similar test results, and, despite that the hair test did not indicate mercury toxicity, other tests did show high mercury - red blood cells test and urine tests while on DMSA only. We chelate already for a year and a half, first with DMSA only, later with DMSA+ALA, and just recently got his lead to the green zone in the hair test. My son had much improvement from TMG. First his antimony level dropped significantly (I think, from TMG and because I removed very old carseats from the car), but then it stopped changing - I think because he had current exposure. Recently I bought an organic mattress for him and replaced all carpets with laminate floor - I hope it will help, we'll see. Dr. Holmes said that ALA works for antimony -see http://www.danasview.net/dan01amy.htm We tried SAMe but my son was very hyper on it, may be because we did not stop TMG+B12 supplementation, so the dose was too high. I think you can chelate and supplement with SAMe or TMG+B12 simultaneously. Good luck Margaret --- In , " trjohns27 " <s@m...> wrote: > Recently we did a hair analyis on our 3.10 year old autistic son and > it came back high in lead and very high (100 times the labs limit > for normal) in Antimony. > > We are about to start chelation therapy but would like to know two > things if any of you can help us. > > First, will DSMA remove Antimony? Guest guest
My son's antimony was so high it was off the chart. Does your son have a Graco Pack N Play playpen? This particular product is drenched in antimony. Everyone I know whose child was high in antimony has had their child in one. There is a group to address this particular problem called antimonyandarsenic. Check out the website www.criblife2000.com too. All beds, bedding, sleepwear, stollers and carseat pad have antimony and arsenic in them for flame retardancy. Other common sources of antimony is from tap water and treated wood. Treated wood is usually used for decks, swingsets and fences. The wood would in turn contaminate the soil around it which would be harmful if you grow your own fruits and vegetables. I bought my son a new crib mattress and covered it with a BabySafe cover. This was before any therapy or intervention started and I noticed an improvement just from this alone. My son has done very well with TMG. I specifically gave it to my son because of it's natural chelating properties. I am going to start chelating with ALA starting this weekend. > Recently we did a hair analyis on our 3.10 year old autistic son and > it came back high in lead and very high (100 times the labs limit > for normal) in Antimony. > > We are about to start chelation therapy but would like to know two > things if any of you can help us. > > First, will DSMA remove Antimony? Guest guest
Oops. You are right. I knew that. Thanks for the correction. I guess I should have eaten a bigger breakfast. > > My son's antimony was so high it was off the chart. Does your son > > have a Graco Pack N Play playpen? Guest guest
Thank you everyone for all the help. As one person asked, did our son have a Graco playpen, YES. At 4 now he's not been in it for a long time but he did have one. As for eliminating the sorces of lead and antimony we are just now startign down chelation/heavy metals path. Of course the playpen is no longer around (stored in the basement) so thats not a concern. As for other things in the house we have almost completed building a new house so the whole environment is about to change. Our current house was built in 1967 so if the materials used at that time are a concern we are about to eliminate that problem. The new house is equipped with an electronic air filter which will hopefully help me keep down any airborne contaminants. Once again, thanks for the help everyone. Looks like I'm off to the store for SAMe. I'm not sure if we have this exact Graco playpen that we used when he was younger or not. I do know we had a Graco playpen. It was one that came with a traveling/storage cover so that you could carry it with you when you traveled. It also had an adjustable " floor " that you could move up higher for when you child was very small. As I recall it was green and wine colored. I also found this quote when looking for sources of Antimony. " Environmental sources: Antimony oxide is added to furniture, mattresses, pajamas, textiles, carpet, and plastics to prevent them from catching fire. Used medically to treat people infected with parasites. Also found in lead storage batteries, solder, sheet and pipe metal, bearings, castings, pewter, paints, ceramics, fireworks, enamels. In the air, water, and soil near industries including smelters, coal-fired plants, and refuse incinerators " Note that Antimony is cound in enamels. When my son was younger we vigorously boiled all of the water that we used to make his formula. We boiled it in a teakettle on the stove. I am wondering if we also leeched out antimony and other metals from the pot. A last question in case someone knows. How long does it take to remove Antimony from the body? Is it a multiple month project like Mercury? Unless I can find information to the contrary, we are going to start our son on SAMe soon and then DMSA when it gets here from the pharmacy. Now I'm off to look for directions for using SAMe. Thanks for all the wonderful help; Tony s
Guest guest
The playpen you described is the one. This is most likely the source of your son's antimony though cookware and water could have added to the problem. I have been giving my son TMG which helps the body produce it's own SAMe. Regarding your teakettle, you could probably contact the company that makes the kettle to find out what particular metals are in it. I have not heard of antimony used in cookware but if it is enameled on the inside this could be possible. > > My son's antimony was so high it was off the chart.
