Guest guest
Best wishes in riding the waves... family law cases are never easy. Blessings... "Sparky Sparky, thank you for reminding me about the casa's! I had forgotten about them. I did call and ask the kid's guardian at liedem (lawyer) if he was interested in meeting Josh before he went to court on his and Josh's older brother Tyler's behalf. We have had this baby for nearly a year and this man, who gets a hefty salary out here for representing these kids, has NEVER seen this baby or his brother. The grandma who has Tyler did not even know that they had one! Any way, he finally made an appearance here Sunday and it was this guy who brought it up to the judge that just maybe this guy should show up for ALL of his drug tests, not just half. We have to take Josh to a specialist on the 26th and hopefully this DR will say he is fine, but three of his siblings have autism to different degrees, Tyler's is severe. I think Josh is perfect so we are not a bit worried. a C

Guest guest
a C. In our state(Nevada) there is a program in the family court system called CASA = Court Appointed Special Advocates. An advocate can be requested on behalf of the child. The CASA is a volunteer whose mission it is to find out all they can about the case, from all sources available including speaking to the child when age appropriate (which in Josh's case would be appropriate) and speak at or submit to court on behalf of the child's best interest. Another option, if you are concerned about Josh's needs being met and voice being heard, find a counselor that specializes in kids in family law cases. Someone who is willing to speak on behalf of the child -- be Josh's voice. We did this in a custody case before and it worked well. My step son was only 9 at the time. It was looking like he was going back to his birth mother, much to his dismay, and the counselor was able to communicate his wishes to the court, that he wanted to stay with his dad. I knew that his father had called and canceled his visit for Wed. but his caseworker called today and told me that he also missed his court date for report and review and also one of his one on one meetings with the parent aide and has only been showing up for about half of his drug tests. He says they are too far for him to go and it's too big of a pain. His own lawyer told the judge that he needs to show up for ALL meetings and court dates and take ALL of his drug tests before he can even think about asking for them back. With this guys thirteen year history with cps and his thirteen arrests for drugs, we are scared to be hopeful that Josh might get to stay after all. This is a good step in that direction though!a C "The LUPIES Store" Come check out our store...http://www.cafepress.com/thelupies"The LUPIES Web Page"http://www.itzarion.com/lupusgroup.html"The LUPIES online photo albums!"
