Hi

Hope all is well with . . . . one thing I have learned from the last

few years is to enjoy the " good " moments when they are there!

has her neuro appt tomorrow and I would value your input into what

is happening with her.

A couple of months ago she was having early morning seizures accompanied

with high BSL and lower than normal ketones. A 50 calorie increase to

dinner seemed to fix things for a while.

However now she is having more seizures again (about 2 a week - and nasty

ones :-( )

Now, while on the diet, every blood test result reveals very low urea - I

believe this is indicative of low protein intake.

Her latest bone density test also revealed some interesting things:

Sept 02 Sept 03

Weight 53 Kg 52 Kg

Tot BMDensity .896 .891

Tot BMC 2261 2300 up 39g

Tot Lean Mass 27002g 23606g down 3396g

Tot Fat 45% 49% up 4%

In a year her weight has reduced by 1 Kg. I was thinking it was great,

because she has some to spare! But when looking at the figures, the picture

isn't so rosy.

She lost 3.4 Kg of lean body mass, yet gained 1.4Kg of fat.

I was quite surprised about this because I thought she would have burned

excess fat before lean tissue.

Would you say this represents a " catabolic " state? Would you say the

solution is to increase protein or overall calories? I don't really want

her to put on weight.

Many thanks

Jill
