my daughter had a similar sounding rash on the side of her torso. I had been

supplementing with vitamin A a long time so I never thought it would be that.

I thought it was yeast/fungal. I applied nystatin cream 2x a day for 3 days and

it cleared up quite nice.

Hello. We had been supplementing with Vit.A for several months. When

I did the high dose protocol (300,000IU) my son developed a rash that

was itchy on backs of thighs and upperarms. I lowered the Vit. A but

the rash didn't go away. I stopped all Vit. A and within 2-3 days the

rash had significantly improved. Within 1 week the rash was gone. I

started the Vit. A again as the dose we had previous used (40,000IU),

the rash did not return. Hope this helps. tina b

What is your dose of vitamin A? My son needed gradual reduction in the amount

of vitamin A, once our high dose protocol was

completed.

And yes, that is a relatively good description of the vitamin A toxicity rash my

son gets when his A is too high. His is also itchy. It

takes about a week to go away when I remove the A.

> I've been giving him 7,500 IU is this too much ?

Depends on the child. I used 100,000 IU as maintenance for quite a while, after

being as high as 500,000 IU.

I have stopped completely

Depends on how old is your child.

He may have needed the slightly higher dose previously, but maybe now his body

has " caught up " and now only needs the USRDA

dose. Wait until the rash is gone [or visual stims return], then give 5000 IU

and see if that is his new dose requirement.
