Guest guest
This is from a friend of mine: I do not know how many times I have had to trot out my standard phase to recalcitrant nurses - " According to the Freedom of Information Act of 1978 I have free and unrestricted access to my medical records and those of my dependents. Should you try to restrict my access to my medical records you are in violation of federal law and I will report it. " It is like waiving a magic wand and saying open sesame. I would memorize this or write it down and fax it. Hope this helps, they sound totally ridiculous. I once made a doctor go into the hallway and copy a couple of pages for me by saying " I know my rights as a patient, and I know there is a copier right outside the door " She knew my rights as a patient too.
