Guest guest
Hi Bill-- are you having symptoms of arsenic poisoning--I'm only asking out of curiosity because I have a friend in tx whose son is very high in arsenic, too, and it'd be good to know what it feels like from an adult's perspective. You don't need a doctor to rx the dmsa for you-- check out this File on the board http://f1.grp.fs.com/v1/EMclP_SBL9V1RQkVLqytI7E4- FhLuTulJZgsNxb_eIBq7z1D6op5IZ9AcIEfZfc9uY- cNtz69Oj2CYC1cUJf71eadZE/HOW_TO_buy_DMSA If it didn't come through as a link, just go to the Files and scroll down till you see How To Buy DMSA. Unlike most members who have a child with Autism being treated for mercury poisoning, I'm an adult recently exposed to arsenic by handling treated wood without gloves and sawing the wood without a mask. I had a Doctor's Data hair analysis test done and the result confirmed my suspicion about the arsenic. It was elevated midway into the yellow band. I know this may sound weird, but midway through the yellow band is not outrageously high. Although I can think of some potential reasons that it could be worse than your hair test says----still, did you also check the counting rules for mercury? /files/HOW_TO_hair_test > I was drawn to this group through a research hit on Cutler. Has anyone in this area found a doctor they can recommend? I don't know any doctors in Texas. Here is some ***general*** advice about some websites with referrals: /files/HOW_TO_find_doctor This list can also give you comments on Texas doctors: Autism Treatment/ I think the FILES there have some info on Texas doctors, and, of course, asking for info is likely to get you info. best, Moria [still generally about 3 days behind on posts]
Guest guest
Welcome ( ), My son is toxic for arsenic as well. (His band is in the red) DMSA will chelate it. I have just started, so I dont have alot of progress information yet. Good luck. You are in a great place..... [ ] New Member -- Arsenic -- Need Doctor in Houston Hello All, I'm a new member to this group. Unlike most members who have a child with Autism being treated for mercury poisoning, I'm an adult recently exposed to arsenic by handling treated wood without gloves and sawing the wood without a mask. I was drawn to this group through a research hit on Cutler. I understand his recommended protocol for mercury (DMSA and ALA) are also the chelators of choice for arsenic. I'm very interested in using this protocol and am now searching for a doctor in Houston that will prescribe DMSA in the recommended dosages. Has anyone in this area found a doctor they can recommend? Since I'm new I don't know if mentioning doctors is allowed. If it isn't, feel free to respond to me directly at wrcoward@.... Thanks. Guest guest
Bill, Welcome to the list. I'm also an adult who has had mercury poisoning and am still working on arsenic detox. Some of my arsenic exposure (from pesticides on goolf course and cotton fields) occurred while I lived in TX. I don't have a child with ASD but have a nephew who does and I've also worked with both children and adults with ASD. DMSA works for mercury and lead, ALA works for mercury and arsenic. Please note that you must not use either of these if you have mercury amalgam dental fillings (many dentists call them " silver " fillings. It will cause the mercury from them to circulate and do more harm. S > Hello All,

I'm a new member to this group. Hi Bill, I've sent you an e-mail with some suggestions, but wanted to add the paragraph below. Apparently if you live in the Southern states -- Louisiana and Texas are the only ones I've heard about personally -- termites are a BIG problem. And the " termite control companies " are a big problem too. They like chlordane, a horrible substance for humans, and use it to (sometimes) create " lakes " of pesticide in basements of houses and apartments, etc. In basements, because that's where the termites come from. Here is a paragraph which gives an example of how some companies behave: " Chlordane Contamination of Houston, Texas Properties -- In 1989 multiple apartment locations in Houston, TX were sprayed on the exterior of the building with the termite control product, technical chlordane. ETI provided extensive environmental surveys and analytical testing for chlordane in the air, on surfaces, in HVAC filters and other apartment contents of four different apartment complexes in litigation by the law firm of Caddell and Conwell, Houston, TX against the owners of the apartments. Dr. Simon, ETI expert witness, provided extensive testimony on the ETI surveys, testing and the toxicology of chlordane. " If there is some chance that chlordane, or some organophosphate, is also part of your problems, there is a specific enzyme that should be looked at. Best regards, P.F. Guest guest
Dr. Pharo is pretty good and also open to individualizing protocols. Sorry I no longer have her phone number but she's in the Galleria area and you can probably find her in the phone book. We also saw Dr. Battle on Long Point but I would recommend against using him. Guest guest
Actually, DMSA and DMPS will both chelate arsenic well. Gaylen
Guest guest
Hello , My major symptoms have been lack of energy; drowsiness; increased sensitivity to certain foods, molds, and chemicals; even worse ringing of the ears; concentration problems; depressed white cell count; slower heart rate; one noticeable case of low blood pressure upon standing; and one noticeable case of low blood sugar (at least, that's what I think it was.) Some of the symptoms seem to be related to arsenic's effect on the adrenals. I've been taking 5mg of Cortisol a day. I noticed some improvement but not much. I did find a doctor that prescribes Cortisol, and as of yesterday said I could increase the dosage gradually to 10-15mg per day. Hopefully, that will make a more noticeable difference in some of these symptoms. I'm getting an /ACT allergy test run to help identify what foods and other things I should avoid to reduce my symptoms. Guest guest
Hello Moria, I haven't done the counting rules for mercury yet, but I'm sure I have mercury as well as arsenic. The DD hair analysis is all over the map for essential minerals, as noted it would be with mercury. I've also had several DMPS challenge tests about 7 years ago with high readings post-challenge. My amalgams were removed about ten years ago so haven't had any recent exposure to mercury that I know of. But I know it's still there and suspect it has had a lot to do with my allergies and sensitivities over the years. Guest guest
Hello PF, Yes, there are lots of termites in Houston. We had ours treated but it's been many years ago. I have chemical sensitivities that may have come from pesticides. Our house doesn't have a basement, but I suspect past exposures to chemicals are part of the culprit. Guest guest
I know this isn't going to be all that helpful but perhaps you can search the archives on some of these words. In my very sketchy notes, I wrote treating arsenic: 5 - 10 mg ALA every 3-4 hours on a 3/11 schedule. & 100 mc. selenomethionine daily, vitamin C & B complex and extra biotin 4X per day. Hope that helps. Truly, a
