Guest guest
Lily: I've had great success with Viokase tablets. They've really lowered the constant pain and reduced the number of attacks. For me, Creon was disaster. It's supposed to be better at controlling the diarrhea, but lousy for pain. I recently tried Creon and my pain level skyrocketed. So I'll stick with the Viokase with which a PPI is necessary. And for the diarrhea, I have Questran powder. -E

Guest guest
I usually drop between 4-6 pounds in like 2 days. But my attacks have not been as severe as most of those that I have learned about here. So I have been fortunate in that regard but they still hurt like hell ! I thought of you yesterday, even told my husband that I was going to email the group. Went to see my GI guy... well,,, that is another 2 hour story. But he put me on Creon, which the pharmacist says is not available any more. Plain Creon that is. But that a Creon-5 or Creaon-10 is available? Pharmacist will call GI on Monday to ask what to give me. Don't you take enzymes and what has been your experience with them ? I know some cause diarrhea, some cause constipation, some help more with pain... But I don't rememeber what is what now. Can you help or anyone help with their input. I know Croen is suppose to be taken with a PPI which I already take. Next time...... YOU are coming with me to my appointment ! I too am a brassy broad but from Ohio, I am first generation born in the US from a ethnic backround ( love to talk with my hands too ! ).Mother and father literally came over on the boat in the early 50's. I say what's on my mind. But I think due to my nursing backround ( I am rusty these days as I have not worked in active nursing for many years ), that my GI doc HATES being challenged by my questions. ( I take my husband with me to keep me from strangling anyone ! ). So next time we can can both go and then maybe he will appreciate me when I come alone !!!!!!! Some docs just hates questions.... I don't get it... why do they even become docs, that's what it's all about education and helping others ! Ok... enough of my soap box ! Can you help me out on the enzymes info ? Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I will see after the pharmacy calls my GI doc what I end up with. I can't imagin why a GI doc would not know that they did not make plain creon anymore ? Well .... I have a theory for that and I am sure you all don't want me to get started on that ! I need to be good, I almost hear the roar of my broom starting now. Laughter is the best medicine, I'll keep my broom and you keep your fart cup ! Guest guest
Well I can certianly understand why a resident MAY not know the answers to SOME questions, but GI docs that have been in private practice for at least 5-10 years... well, I would think they would have some clues on the answers ! Time for me to button lips now !
