Patti,

I took my son, , to Sesame Street LIve a couple months ago. I had never

taken to anything like this. I won't even take him into a restaurant

because he won't sit still and he tends to be very vocal in his protests!

But I had free tickets and I really wanted to see how he would do. I figured

if it didn't hold his attention I could always get up and leave.

I was pleasantly surprised! We spent the first 20 minutes before the show

walking around the arena. There was no point in trying to get him to sit in

a seat. No way! Then just before it started we took our seats. I made sure

I had juice and snacks in my bag to engage him if he started getting antsy.

Once the lights started going, and the music and the characters came out,

was awed. It really helped that he was familiar with all the characters

so I think it got his interest more. I don't think he knew what to make of

it, but I believe he enjoyed it. I had fun watching him. I kept him on my

lap the whole time. He wanted to get down several times and we had a few

protests with squirming and screaming, but I just got up and we took a break

in the hall. We had really good seats and when the characters got close he

wanted to get out of the seat and go to them. He didn't like that I held him

back. Overall he was great! I enjoyed the show too.

just turned 2 yr at the end of October. He wore aids most of his life

and just got his CI in June 2002. I'm certain he could not understand what

was being said in the show. Sometimes it's hard for hearing people to

understand because the recorded music and voice is being broadcast in such a

large space. I don't know what kind of accomodations could be made. Let me

know if you find out. I'd be interested for next time. As I said, the

dialogue tends to be distorted so I don't know how beneficial it would be to

" enhance " that or somehow make it more understandable for a hearing impaired

person. The action, costumes and special effects should keep Emma

entertained.

Have fun!
