' Tis an excellent question, Donna! I am not so limited as I am unfocused with tasks. It seemsdaunting to me to get any housework done, sooftentimes it goes by the wayside. I know I'm of no help to you! Sometimes though, I setthe timer (ala flylady.net) for 15 min. intervals, and see what I can do inside that time. So 15minutes of work, then 15 minutes of down time.I can do this usually for an hour, then I'm pooped.best to you in your endeavors, love, Kate How do YOU do things.. (serious group stuff)... No formal Dx here, but plenty of problems.

I use a cane, ahe a wrist strap on it as well as a LED flashlight taped on for

night-time. I wear climber type hooks on my belt loop so I can attach my cane,

so I don't ahve to try and pick it up. I preferr bonehead shirts with lots of

generous pockets (always ahndy).

When I take the garbage cart out front, I use it for balance. I also sue a mop

or broom as a balance aid. Heck I even used a chain saw for balance while

cutting brush. (my doc might flip if heard about that one). My walker is used

mostly to help me get out of my lazy boy and hold my blankets and sometime my

cane. Neeedless to say I doing better than a coupe years ago when I was crawling

up and down the stairs, thanks in part to a good solid handrail.

I need to find my little broom thingie.. it's just a small hand held

broom type fiction.. comes with a tiny little dust pan too.. I did use

that for awhile.. small trash bag beside me.. sit on the floor and use

that little broom to sweep each section of floor.. could do that

again... when I find the stupid thing.. someone took it from where I

left it and moved it.... had to be someone else.. I would NEVER forget

where I put something ROFLMAO... as for dogs staying off it.. Butter

Brown rarely goes into the kitchen.. IF he does.. he's looking for a

trash bag to pee on.. Zucco prances out there for some reason (when we

bring the groceries in.. he has to put his nose in every bag.. looking

for any treats we might have brought him... just like a kid!.. LOL)...

and I can just about bet.. since something is changing out there.. and

mommy is out there.. I'd have dog prints on my nice clean floor..well

semi-clean floor.. but I do have to get my butt in gear and at least

attempt to help poor with some of this...

How do YOU do things.. (serious group stuff)... LOL

My question... I need hints & suggestions and HOW TO's...

How do you guys manage to get your housework done.. I KNOW that other

people have adapted to doing things differently with their capabilities

diminished (this isn't coming out right).....

I need hints and suggestions on how to do simple things.. like sweep the

kitchen floor to get it ready for scrubbing.. (scrubbing I think I've

got figured out).. but I can't for the life of me, figure out just how

I'm going to sweep the floor and get the crap off there before I start

to scrub.. (with a sponge mop.. don't like it.. but a lick & promise it

better than nothing)...

How do you move the trash to the trash can.. when using a walker????..

should I just climb in my chair and drag the trash bag behind me?

I know you guys are quite adept at becoming adaptable.. so tell ME how

you do it...

I have NO common sense, but if I read it.. I can do it...

So come on guys.. tell me how to clean my house!!!

My problem is getting back up off the floor when I get down there - and

the big dogs running to " help really DON'T! :-)

P.S. - wish someone could tell me what I was thinking about the other

night when I put an EMPTY bean can, lid and all, very very neatly away in

the utensil drawer... sigh... if the bean can is THERE, reckon what I threw

away and will never see again?

My problem is getting back up off the floor when I get down there - and

the big dogs running to " help really DON'T! :-)

P.S. - wish someone could tell me what I was thinking about the other

night when I put an EMPTY bean can, lid and all, very very neatly away in

the utensil drawer... sigh... if the bean can is THERE, reckon what I threw

away and will never see again?

Hi DonnaDon't worry, sweetie, dogs mark everything they see. If it wasn't there yesterday, or is on a different place, they will mark it. I had one that even marked the backdoor when I got a little pup. He just wanted to show him who's the boss. I'm beginning to like girl dogs so much more. Never had one before, but is great. She will hold everything to herself until the door opens.Good luck and hugsFrom: |)onna

I loved my cargo pants for work days.. could put all kinds of things in

all of those pockets.. and get them where they needed to be.. lol..

sweatpants (around the house).. don't work as well though... And

took my canvas laptop bag off my walker.. he said it was too big.. lol..

and I'm thinking that little pouch we found.. just ain't big enough to

move things from place to place around here.. LOL...

I let him get the trash out.. and have become a fishwife on that one..

IF I manage to get the trash bag OUT of the trash can (the suction is

too much.. lol).. I nag until he takes the bag out.. cause if he lets it

sit.. Buster is definitely going to go pee on it no matter where it

is!!!.. can't for the life of me figure out why this dog does not like

any plastic bag of any kind...

Thankfully there are NO stairs here.. we bought a double wide

manufactured home.. for that simple fact.. we knew that eventually

stairs were going to be out of the question.. so we measured doorways

(for wheelchair access) and all that stuff when we bought this.. just

didn't think that five years ago.. those precautions would be in use

soooooo soon...

Oh.. and Buster peed on my walker the first day it was here as well.. an

the wheel of my wheelchair (only I didn't know that he'd peed on the

wheelchair until I started using it and got a wet hand!.. gave him

grief.. and he hasn't peed on either again.. though he avoids the

walker.. he's scared to death of it.. got to wonder if the guy who beat

him, didn't use something similar to hit him way back when)...

Thanks for your suggestions Joe

Both of my ruff-ruffs are male... Butter Brown is not neutered (never

had the xtra $$ to do so).. and Zucco is neutered.. the family who

starved him apparently had the extra $$ to have him neutered... both are

Boxers.. full blooded (or so the black on the roof of their mouth

sez..).. and both are rescues.. Butter was beaten.. and wasn't quite 1

year old when we got him.. he now has seizures from those beatings..

Zucco was nearly 2 when we got him.. and at 2 years should have weighed

close 66 pounds.. he weighed 28.. .. Butter marks.. and Zucco follows

and pees there too.. like a couple of kids where the little brother has

to do what the big brother does.. Zucco has the kennel.. that's his

" safe " place and we put his food in there though the door stands open

and he eats from the outside.. and they have to taste each others first

(even though it's the exact same thing).. then decide just who's bowl

they are going to eat out of.. But Zucco has the kennel so that he KNOWS

that's his food and his place.. And yes, females are much easier I

think.. so does .. but when one is rescuing.. one can't pick the sex

of the baby that needs the rescuing... so.. we got boys.. Zucco is a

little slow on the uptake.. being starved during his formative years..

but he's now, after two years.. starting to push his head in where

Butter is.. and demand his share of the attention.. and figuring things

out.. like how to play.. though he sings to his toys rather than play

tug of war like Butter does.. never a dull moment around here...

And.. believe it or not.. cannot scold Buster (butter).. or Buster

gets sick.. I can scold though.. and can be upset with him longer than

can before I have to make up.. has to make up right away... or

else we got a poor sick puppy.. who at some point shortly after being

sick.. will have a seizure of some sort.. fortunately lately they've all

been Petite... the first Grand scared the living daylights out of me...

But we wouldn't trade them for the world..

l)onna,Your dogs are blessed and fortunate to have you asparents! I think it is wonderful when folk want to rescue instead of just going to the mall or breederfor a new pup.I have one dog, Missy, she's 9 and a real part ofthe family. We've had her since she was a puppy;we adopted her from the local ASPCA. She is part:shepherd, collie and beagle--she has real huntinginstincts. I'm pretty sure her mom was a collie; thewoman at the aspca said the woman with the mombrought two puppies in. My friend adopted the otherone, so we try to get the sisters together from timeto time. They love it!It's great to have a pet. They sense our moods andare so compassionate. Missy licks me like mad whenI cry...hugs, kate How do YOU do things.. (serious group > stuff)... I know what you mean, when you rescue a baby, you don't worry about the sex. That's how we ended up with . (Border Collie) Friends of mine found her and brought her to me. I thought it was a small breed, I always take a small breed dog, because they get pampered like mad. Sit on my lap, sleep on my bed. She was about 3 months when I got her, but she was so tiny I really thought she was only 8 weeks at the most. When I took her to the vet to be sterilized, he told me very disturbing news. He said she must have had distemper when she was little, because her teeth are in bad shape. She also has nerve troubles. Her front foot taps the whole time. So when she's lying behind my back, she taps me on the back to sleep. Great job! LOL So she really had to go through a lot of hell to get to this loving home.

I can't imagine my life without her. She used to lie on my lap, but she discovered she was a little too big. So she doesn't do it anymore, unfortunately for me. At the beginning, she was really afraid that she won't get food. We couldn't eat in peace, even when she already had her food, she would scream the whole time. She's gotten used to getting food, so she's fine when we're eating. Always hoping that she will get a tiny piece, but not screaming anymore. It's so adorable to watch my 2 dogs play, because the other one, Trixie (male; Jack x Maltese) is half her size. But when she annoys him, he will jump up and bite her lips. It's so funny to see this little one jumping up to bite her. Thanks for letting me share my babies with you. They are my life, well, and don't forget Knerses (chameleon), but that's another day's story.HugsTo: MSersLife Sent: Thursday, September 3, 2009 1:10:18 AMSubject: Re: How do YOU do things.. These guys still don't know that they aren't lap dogs!!!.. if I'm on the

couch.. or is on the couch.. ONE of them is in ONE of our laps..

guaranteed.. Butter just gets comfortable.. Zucco on the other hand..

I've sat and watched him with .. (and he does the same with me)..

just have his front half in 's lap.. with his head turned up looking

at 's face with such adoring eyes.. and if allows.. he'll cover

his face (or chin & under) with wet kisses.. I seriously think he's

grateful that he's here.. it shows in the way he looks.. he KNOWS he's

not going hungry (but if he does... it's his own fault, cause there's

always a bowl of dry food - snack food for them - along with the can of

food in the morning & can of food in the evening.. and Butter knows what

people food is.. he could eat a half a pizza by himself if allowed..

Zucco is just learning what people food is..

I got Zucco here now, bouncing up and down on his front legs.. and

ruffing at at me.. he wants to go out.. but he can't.. not quite yet..

the neighbors puppies are out.. little critters.. and my huge critter

don't realize they aren't little critters.. and besides giving them

grief through the fence.. (Butter has actually gone under the chain

links to get to the little ones.. then stands over top of them.. eyes

rolling.. not vicious.. I think he wants to play... or more likely is

trying to show his dominance.. (they are ALL males) over the little

one.. (neighbors shouldn't let the little ones down here to pee on our

fence.) but without being home.. Case... they can't go out

until I'm sure the other puppies are inside or at least out of range..

Zucco still hides food.. we find it in behind the cushions of the

loveseat.. well not so much now that I'm home.. but he did it when I was

working.. I think he still remembers the " lean " days and is preparing

for it.. Hopefully at some point, he will realize that his food supply

will not dwindle..

He came to live with us on a Sunday.. a niece found him, but with her

working (and I wasn't at the time). she just couldn't get him to put ANY

weight on.. so she called us.. We picked him up.. and on the way home

stopped and bought the huge kennel he has.. because the one she gave

us... was only big enough for him to stand up in... we had him at the

Vet's office by Monday afternoon.. Vet looked at like!..

said.. Whoa.. don't look at me.. we just picked him up yesterday and

THAT'S why we're here today.. to see if there is anything we need to be

doing special for him.. He was skin hanging over bones.. his body had

actually started using his muscle to keep him alive.. (he still hasn't

gotten everything back, but has started to build some muscle in his back

legs again.. but he tires pretty easily).. Vet told us there wasn't

anything special to do.. So I brought him home.. I gave him little bits

of food & water every two hours.. because he couldn't keep it down any

other way.. and I was washing blanket & sleeping bags every day..

because it all went straight through him as well.. but at least he kept

it down that way.. Three weeks later I had him back at the vets.. cause

his breath smelled like something had died inside him.. he had a sinus

infection.. from snuffling in the dirt to find food... Girls at the

office thought he was a different dog!!!.. and the vet then admitted

that he didn't tell us on the first visit.. but he was pretty sure we

were going to take him home to die... he was shocked to find him still

alive!!..

Well they are both still very much with us and a huge part of our

family.. and they KNOW when it's 5 o'clock.. don't know how they know

it.. but they do.. and they start watching out the living room window

for " daddy " to come home.. and when he radio's that he's coming up the

road... I got two heads and sets of eyes.. staring holes in the living

room door!.. and the wiggle-butting starts... Boxer's have a cute

quirk.. they kidney bean and their butts nearly touch their shoulders

with their little dance.. and those little tails NEVER stop moving..

They were both so tickled on Monday.. it was cool enough to take them

for a car-car ride with us.. and now that we've got the van.. they each

have their own seat and windows on each side of their own seats.. they

absolutely loved it!!.. they hadn't been for a car-car ride since we got

the Cobalt.. too darned small to put two boxers in the back seat.. and

can't take one without taking the other...

Well.. they aren't going to be denied this time.. they really need out

.... so I'm gonna check.. and give them strict orders.. get out.. get it

done.. and get back.. don't screw around with mommy or you don't go out

again until daddy gets home (he can chase them if they happen to get out

under the fence.. though they don't try unless somebody else is where

they really shouldn't be)...

his face (or chin & under) with wet kisses..

They are boxers.. and they do the same thing from time to time.. snoring

and all.. LOL.. We compromised I guess.... always had Dobermans.. I

love Great Danes.. think we made a great compromise.. and he's changed

his mind on wanting only Dobermans now.. sez Boxers are the way to go..

I love Danes.. but am not dead set on them.. I'd love any puppy brought

home... but Boxers are great... funny thing is.. the difference between

these two... in Buster the Great Dane came out (one of the critters used

to create the Boxer Breed) strongly in him.. and Zucco.. the Beagle came

out in him.. and they have different personalities as well.. go figure...

Don't know what I'd do without them.. and don't even want to think about

the day when I lose one...

They are boxers.. and they do the same thing from time to time.. snoring

and all.. LOL.. We compromised I guess.... always had Dobermans.. I

love Great Danes.. think we made a great compromise.. and he's changed

his mind on wanting only Dobermans now.. sez Boxers are the way to go..

I love Danes.. but am not dead set on them.. I'd love any puppy brought

home... but Boxers are great... funny thing is.. the difference between

these two... in Buster the Great Dane came out (one of the critters used

to create the Boxer Breed) strongly in him.. and Zucco.. the Beagle came

out in him.. and they have different personalities as well.. go figure...

Don't know what I'd do without them.. and don't even want to think about

the day when I lose one...
