Guest guest Posted April 10, 2003 Report Share Posted April 10, 2003 Welcome to the list. I've interpresed my comments amongst yours. > I have now done 2 rounds of DMSA.
The 1st round I was on 12 mg and found it easy. The last time I went to 50mg and found that I couldn't keep my eyes open after about 10-15minutes. It completely drained me. I am due for another round now. I'm doing 3 on 11 off at the moment.
> *How often do you dose? Do you take other supplements, digestive enzymes? Which ones, how much, how often? Motto here is low and slow. I'd go back to the 12 mg if I were you. Consider dosing every 4 hrs day and night throught the round if you aren't already. Dental work is very stressful on the system best to space it out more if possible. > pains around my eyes and itchiness is very irritating. > Drink lots of reverse osmosis water. Have you tried artificial tears (read the label, some eye drops contains thimerosal (mercury), but I'm pretty sure these don't. > Anyone got any ideas on anything that may pep me up? > Do you have a juicer? Fresh fruit and vegetable juices or smoothies may help. Consider taking dairy and wheat out of your diet for a while, avoid fast/junk food. > Also does anyone know what else DMSA chelates, ie: nickel, aluminium etc. ? > DMSA chelates lead and mercury primarily. People chelating have reported dumping a wide variety of metals. Apple pectin/malic acid (available at HFS) helps with the aluminum. Also make sure you don't have ongoing exposure to aluminum and nickel. Aluminum is in some baking powder, added to munipal water in fluoridation process, pop cans, some cookware, deodorant, and some medications(?) Nickel is used in the hydrogenation process for some foods in addition to all the uses you know about with which one has topical exposure. You may want to consider NAET and type of non-invasive allergy elmination treatment (see www.NAET.com) that uses acupuncture and applied kinesiology. > I wondered if any of you could advise on something to help beat this fatigue! > Epsom salt baths may prove helpful. > Gaynor, U.K
> =======================================================
Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Gaynor, I'm in the UK. Maybe you need to find a different dentist. I know a good one in London and another, too, was recently recommended to me but I dont' know exact location. Woudl this help you? You sound like you are very ill indeed. Don't blame it on yourself, because it's no more your fault than me having a cold is my fault. Stuff happens. Were you ill before all the dental work? Did you start getting ill and then think, OK I'm going to get my amalgams removed? People will help you on this list and others. Please keep writing in. I don't want to fill you will fascile suggestions because I am not so good at nutrition (yet). But my first thought was alkalise the body with a lot of fruit and/or vegetable juice, perhaps start taking some (many) minerals like magnesium, zinc, selenium and other trace minerals. If you are so ill you can't cook for yourself, try getting good quality eggs, and eat the raw egg yolk in raw avocado. There's a lot of reasons that may help but raw yolks CAN have salmonella (although I've been doing this for a long time with no adverse effects, but then I am generally healthy). You may have a yeast problem, too. I'll go now because I think others will know more. Marti Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted April 10, 2003 Report Share Posted April 10, 2003 Take a gram of buffered vitamin C every hour or two for a while, gotu kola liquid extract 1-2 droppersfull 3-4 times a day to promote healing, gelatin powder 1 tbsp 3-4 times a day (and eat lots of meat too), and whatever else you are doing for yourself. Chelate with DMSA 100 mg every 4 hours in a couple of weeks. A Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I don't know that I have any " advice " , your situation sounds complicated. I can comment on what I've done, some of which helped for me. > > I haven't been too well in the past 3-4 weeks or so. I'm very stressed by dental work. I needed to go slower than the dentist suggested. I also got a lot of refeif from body work and energy work I had done after some of the dental work. Maybe SOME people are not so stressed by dental work, but I am, and apparently you are. So, you may want to consider this -- both in planning for dental work and in looking for ways to " recover " . > I had all the metals removed by March 3rd this year. I can't really tell much what to say about this. I don't think I've experienced the sort of tiredness you are having. I'm wondering if you are managing to eat during all this sleepiness? If not, that will contribute to weakness, I think. You could try drinking carrot juice or grape juice or chicken broth when you wake up. A continuing input of food is what I'm thinking of. Even if it is just some liquid every hour. > > My Dentist is a qualified toxiologist and she has mentioned a few times of my 'sensitivites'. Allergies are hard to deal with. I'm not allergic to metals, but am allergic to touching many plants. I do think chelation may help, but it also may take time for the allergies to go away. You can try NAET or bioset if you want. I use Chinese herbs (from my acupunturist) for temporary relief, which helps a lot, in my case. > > I have now done 2 rounds of DMSA. > The 1st round I was on 12 mg and found it easy. I would suggest that you take care of yourself about it, as best you can, whatever that means. It is always sad when the situation is not supportive. There may also be other kinds of emotional support that would help you, and you should do whatever will be supportive for you. That might be almost anything, I have no idea. But hopefully you have some ideas of what will help you through. > > I don?t know what to do with myself at the moment. I don?t go out ? I?m stuck in the house, day in day out. Then do fun distracting things at home. Watch movies that are fun or funny or uplifting. Books (same criteria). Any good radio programs? Talk on the phone? Cassette tapes of music or lectures? Are there people who visit you? Sing. Draw pictures. > Also does anyone know what else DMSA chelates, ie: nickel, aluminium etc. ? These things have been mentioned by my dentist and I just wondered if I could kill 2 or 3 or 4 birds with 1 stone! It chelates mercury and lead. But people who do excretion tests have had high levels of several other metals.... > > And would it be best to build up if its possible before carrying on chelating with DMSA(Due to my dentist saying I was too weak at the moment) or shall I carry on regardless? > > Because of my stitches I found it very hard to drink and swallow tablets so after afew attempts, i stopped taking my supplements. I don't think I feel much different but maybe I would have felt worse by now if I hadn't have taken them up to now. Well, this is hard to answer, which I think means I don't HAVE an answer to it. But I can say that if I had stitches OR if I had just had oral surgery, that I cannot imagine trying to do any other major project at that time. You can reread my comments about dental work being stressful for me, if you want. My thoughts go toward sitting outside in the sunshine, looking at flowers, maybe taking a little walk..... baths, rest...... I really don't know what to suggest for the tiredness. Sometimes a lot of sleep is really a good thing though--- it may be your body's way of healing from the anesthesia and stress. I guess I would tend to think it is a good thing, unless it goes on for weeks and weeks or something where it seems to be metabolic. best, Moria Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest guest Posted April 11, 2003 Report Share Posted April 11, 2003 Your symptoms sound familiar to what I had when very toxic though mine weren't quite as bad as yours sound. The best pep-me-up thing I found at that time was a combo of a vitamin C powder mixed with water and liquid magnesium. Magnesium Chloride from Allergy Research Group or Cardiovascular Research Group was like a major pep pill for me. It also cured the eye tic I had at that time. You can order it from www.vitaminshoppe.com. DMSA will chelate most metals, though it chelates some better than others. I would agree with your doc to go very slowly and watch your reaction very carefully since if you are very very weak, your body may not be able to process the metals out very well. Given your strong reaction to metals, you'd probably benefit greatly from some NAET or TBM treatments for various metals you react to. Sorry, I don't know anyone who does these in the UK, but perhaps the www.naet.org site can direct you to a practitioner. Also, if you can find someone in your area with a Biocleanse or IonCleanse machine, that might be a quicker, safe way to get you to the point where you can handle chelation better. Best wishes. It does get better. Gaylen Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted April 11, 2003 Report Share Posted April 11, 2003 >>>the local anesthetic... epinephrine. Dental work for me has always been terrible because I am very hyper- sensitive and had head pain anyway. " Stress " didn't begin to approach an appropriate adjective. The dentist didn't use the epinephrine because it might interact with my prescription medicine. The sub was incredibly inefficient for me...in fact, the dentist said she rarely had such a problem getting someone numb enough to work on (I was very hyper-sensitive). Finally, I didn't need the med as much so the dentist could use the epinephrine and WOW, that was the best stuff ever. Total heaven...meaning, no pain. It was just awesome. In fact, I look forward to going to the dentist now but I INSIST on the epinephrine. So, just consider another person's experience. . Guest guest Posted April 15, 2003 Report Share Posted April 15, 2003 Hi Guys! Thank you for all your replies of help when I felt so poorly recently. I don't know what is happening but I am starting to feel better and I mean better than I have in the last 2 years! I don't know if it is the DMSA that may have helped remove some of the mercury out of my system making me feel better or if its the fact that I have now got nothing at all in my mouth affecting me.(As I seem to be getting reactions to many things) The last one I had removed was a deep root canal and a tooth which an old dentist played around with, decided to do a deep root canal and as two other dentists have said - tried and failed. The nerve was damaged during the deep root canal and since I'd had it I had had pain behind that ear and around my head as well as not being able to bite on it properly. But I cannot believe the change in me, a long way to go still but I'm now on my 5th day where I'm finding that I can move around better. Even one step in front of the other hurt me before. Now it doesn't hurt! It feels so different! I'm still knotted up in my back and arms, but I tell you, it was my birthday yesterday and feeling this much better was the best present that I could ever have!!! I go to the dentist again this Wednesday, for temporary bridges to be fitted and then I get a 6 month break before going back again for the proper ones. I don't know if it was the DMSA that lowered my body burden and made me feel better(maybe it was that which also made me feel so terribly poorly and tired while it stirred it up) but will find out when I go for my next round. I have decided to have a few weeks off to build up abit, so I will start it again next weekend(about 26th April). Or maybe after getting all the poison out of my mouth my body is starting to come towards some kind of normality. I had my 1st amalgams removed in January, completed them in February. Then the only metals I had left in my mouth was the crowns. The metal had receded back and when the dentist cut them off I was amazed to see that the crowns where approx. 50% amalgam. They were removed on 3rd March. Feeling this well now is actually overwhelming me emotionally now - talk about swings and roundabouts. I've had nearly 5 years of this and to get such a boost this way makes me really believe now that I am going to get better. Oh and when I said I didn't even look like me ? I looked terrible this time last week and its true I didn't look like myself anymore, just a shadow. But now I look like I did a year ago - not back yet to how I looked before all this but from last week to this I have probably lost 5 years.
