At the airport I used to work at, we had rat snakes in our building. We had a rat/mouse problem and then the snakes came. Then we had a snake problem. One of our workers was cleaning upstairs and he didnt know he cornered a baby snake and the daddy snake bit him on the ankle. After that we got an office cat. Then we had a cat problem.

-- Snakes -- OT

I think our entire Lone Star State has snakes across it !!! I know the 'city-slickers' won't see them as much as us 'country folk' --- but they're all around !!! This year I've already seen a king snake, grass snake and garter snake. We have a big pond behind our house -- know there are lots of cottonmouths and copperheads around --- but haven't seen any in years !!! Last one was a little copperhead that I killed -- with a hoe -- not a shovel, !!!

Last year we were walking in our back yard and my hubby and oldest stepson were ahead of me -- not looking down as I did --- they walked right over a BIG chicken snake (about 5 feet long) -- or something like that -- maybe water snake --- one year I did have a scare -- the dogs were barking in our bedroom (we have a sliding glass door with a doggy door next to it) and I finally went back there -- there was a HUGE snake partially on the glass trying to get in !!!! Guess he felt it was cooler inside. Hubby was gone - so thank goodness for my youngest brother -- he came over and 'kilt' it !!! It had to have been about 6 feet long !!!! -- not poisonous --- another water snake !!!

I've learned to watch the ground when I walk outside here !!!! We do have ground rattlers ---less than a foot long --- have never seen a big one here --- believe you all in Central and West Texas have the bigger ones !!! Hugs from SE Texas, Randie
