I had some bleeding at 8 wks. and thought I was having another MC, but I wasn't. (I had a leeking blood clot - gross, I know, and another story.) But, anyway, the MFMS suspected my IC was caused by the septum removal. He decided to put in a preventive cerclage when I was 15 weeks pregnant before my cervix had a chance to funnel - so then I went on semi-bedrest (no standing or walking for more than 30 min. at a time, etc.) at 20 weeks because of the weight of the baby. Yes - this all took place AFTER my septum resection and my baby is fine. However, during my last pregnancy in '99, BEFORE I had my septum resection, my cervix started funneling at 18 weeks pg and I had a rescue cerclage placed as well as full bedrest. But, my water broke at 20 weeks and I lost the baby, anyway. So, I'm not convinced that removing my septum caused my IC. I had an IC when I still had a septum. I've read that a preventive cerclage has much better chances of working than a rescue cerclage (placed after your cervix starts to funnel or shorten). So, if you know you have an IC, or you have a history of IC, I would go ahead and get the cerclage before your cervix starts to do anything. , age 33, BU/SU after 5 losses 38 wks pg
