Hi .....

First, I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday...sounds so relaxing and

you needed that. Good for you!

Next, I also believe it should be harder to get in. I've mentioned

this before but my brothers girlfriend Amy works for the college and she

takes care of the medical students. She said it is so scary to think

that these men and women will some day be looking out for us. She did

say, and I'm so thankful to hear this, that the women seem to take it

far more serious than the men. We're talking about students with " D "

grades... YIKES! They pass and go on to become doctors.... I think

when we're talking about working on people and their lives.... they

should have no less than a " C " .

Watch NBC tonight with Tom Brokaw (sp?) He's going to talk about bad

doctors and what can happen and how to avoid them. It comes on here at

6:30pm.

They need to do something. If doctors who are good would report those

who aren't.... many individuals wouldn't die.

But they have that stupid code of silence. What a joke....

I'm sure that Bob might still be alive if he had better doctors who knew

what they were doing. But once the disease gets hold of you, you have

no more fight.

Same thing happened to one of our own members... Her doctor didn't pay

attention when she told him that she was sick and her lungs were

hurting. Her friend took her into ER after fighting it for a month.

She was asperating food into her lungs and had pneumonia. She became

too weak for a feeding tube any longer and she was just left to die.

She was just 41.

It's very sad..... I say, question everything that's going on and don't

wait for doctors to call you back if he/she doesn't call when he/she

said they would. They forget, it's the individual who's sick that has

to suffer the most. Good doctors are very hard to come by these

day.... Money is what brings many of these individuals into the

medical field.

As for the 100mgs of Pred Ed was given. You bet that was an extremely

high dose. Most doctors feel that 60mgs is the dose to give. Heck, he

was not even diagnosed yet so why that heavy of a dose. If it did

anything at all it made him more fatigued which it would.

Out here in Calif. we have the right to sue our insurance company if

they go against doctors wishes and something terrible happens. That's

one good thing in our favor. There are other states that have also

adopted that but I don't know which ones they are. So, with that, it's

up to the doctor to push for it. The insurance company can say NO......

and if the doctor doesn't want to argue with them, the patient

loses....I can't remember what state Bob lived in.

All I know is that we have many bad doctors out there and the patient

and his/her family have to be on the ball and NOT take his word as

gospel. Know what he's doing at all times...trusting him is fine but

still be involved and ask a lot of questions.
