Guest guest
Did you mean to say ½ mg per pound? Re: [ ] DMSA / ALA dosages Andy Cutlers starting dose would be 5 - 10mg per dose of each or either given 3 hourly if using ALA. Andy does not recommned going over 1.2mg per pound per dose (20mg) > What is the proper dosage of DMSA and ALA for a 40 pound 5 year old > boy? Please help. Guest guest
> What is the proper dosage of DMSA and ALA for a 40 pound 5 year old > boy? Please help. JJM You can find Andy's recommended dosage, dose timing, and other basic facts of this kind, here: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/Andy_dose_sched.html I think this dose range is reasonable and useful. It is: 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound per dose This is for EACH of ALA and DMSA. For a 40 pound child this works out to 5 mg to 20 mg of ALA and 5 mg to 20 mg of DMSA per dose, every THREE hours. Additional information can be found at http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ good wishes, Moria
Guest guest
Thanks but it was not the starting dose I was questioning but the maximum. Did Mum231ASD mean to say “Andy does not recommend going over ½ mg per pound per dose” or is it 1.2mg per pound per dose. Re: [ ] DMSA / ALA dosages 1/2 mg/lb is on the higher side for a starting dose. work your way up slowly. Did Mum231ASD mean to say " Andy does not recommend going over > ½ mg per pound per dose " or is it 1.2mg per pound per dose. I don't know what Mum231ASD meant to say. Andy's recommended dosage goes up to 1/2 mg per pound. The exception would be for an ADULT who is chelating themself, AND who has already used 1/2 mg per pound for a while with low or no side effects. Because I'm halfway through my 2nd day of chelation, and haven't been feeling any effects at all with 50mg DMSA capsules every 4 hours. P.S. Interestingly, I've found that one of the supplements *does* have a bit of an effect - the GABA, crushed and mixed into warm-hot water. But when I take it with cooler water, GABA doesn't have an effect.

You have not even finished one round to know what happens after you stop. Also 50 mg is only the " high end " of the range if you weigh 100 pounds. If you weigh over 100 pounds, you can increase to 1/2 mg per pound without wondering how long " a while " is. Moria
Guest guest
Let me jump in, too. I weigh 115 pounds. I plan to start chelating (when the time comes) at 30 mg DMPS every 8 hours and later adding 30 mg ALA every 3-4 hours. At my weight, what maximum dosage of both these chelators do you think I should ramp up to over time?
