Guest guest
Carol, That's fantastic about your blood sugar control and your weight loss! With diabetes, faster weight loss than 5 lbs a month is hard to attain. Don't think of Metformin as some miracle pill because it is not. Unless you have an extremely low insulin level, Metformin will not allow you to just cross your arms and avoid diet and exercise. I take Metformin, but it only helps me lose weight when I do both the diet and exercise. I think it would keep me from gaining if I did not exercise. If I had a high carb diet, I would probably still gain a small amount of weight. If you continue to lose weight and keep it off, the insulin resistance in your body will go down. When this happens, your blood sugar will be easier to control. Will you be able to ever go off meds? You can only find that out in the future after losing some weight. Just focus on keeping everything on track today and in the future. Why worry about something that you cannot foresee or change right now?? April in GA P.S. I am also holding out hope that I will be able to go off meds one day :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: ravenwalker36 I just took my blood sugar (4pm) and it was 108! Yeah! I haven't seen it like that but once and that was at work and I hadn't eaten and I was running like mad that day. This is great, but the thought just occurred to me. I sure hope I don't decide to just give up on the hard work I have been to doing in getting my weight down. I don't want to think that it is a miracle pill. I want to one day just be able to control this thing by diet and exercise alone.

Guest guest
April, I plan to stay attached to you all.. I am really beginning to like it here. I am still having trouble implementing exercise in to my routine. I took the treadmil out of the computer room and into the front room so can watch TV and walk at the same time. That was suggested by my Doctor. He also adjusted my neck and gave me some muscle relaxers. My neck and back have been fused and sometimes exercise is painful. Maybe once I am over this flare up, I will get on that thing. I was reading somewhere that I should start out 3 days a week for 20-30 minutes. Not sure which days would be the best days.. probably weekends, because I am not running as much. I am doing pretty good at my record keeping on my diet. Switching things around and making better choices. I have am now doing a breakfast - even if it is just slim fast. Hit and run thing. Better then nothing. I am just counting carbs, fats and protien and also monitoring the food groups. I have a hard time getting alls those fruits and veggies in. Striving for progress rather then prefection. Dairy products are my biggest offender. I go over board with them it seems. Carol
Guest guest
Scout, I see you been in my computer room ... how you know that about me? I am doing the same thing too. If I lose 50 lbs, I will feel like I am in my youth again. My goal is 40 lbs. Carol
