Guest guest
Hi again - This is for the single mom and Austin who will be starting the diet soon. I think the more research you do the better. I read the book twice before the hospital admission. The other parents in my group hadn't read it and they were very overwhelmed. Since we are in the very early stages we are only rotating about 4 meals right now, so I think that is making it easier on me. I do stay home full time right now, and I do provide all the care for my son. He will be going to school next week with the same packed lunch everyday! Some other ideas I came across that I am using is a poster for . It has over 2 years worth of spaces and at the end of each day he puts a face sticker on it. So far he has put 6 happy stickers on it (because we are getting rid of seizures) and one sad sticker. We had a bad day yesterday about popcorn! At the end of the diet we told him we would do something special, whatever he wanted (within reason of course.) I also tried a few of the meals ahead of time (about 3) that the book suggested. It gave me a head's up and what he would and wouldn't probably eat. Good luck and I'm sure we'll read each others messages again. Guest guest
Here's another encouragement, Our daughter, Shan, has been on the diet for 21 months and all meal preparation has become routine and part of the day. As soon as you down load the Stanford Meal Planner (try Google search, it's also listed somewhere in the archives) and become familiar with it, it will make your meal preparations a lot easier and flexible (no more running to the store late at night to pick up something you ran out of, just change the menue on the meal planner). It takes app. 45 min. to prepare all meals for the day. We keep a notebook with menues we have made. We have found that if we do all the meals first thing in the morning we don't feel like we are always having to run to the kitchen to prepare a snack, lunch, etc. Usually, we do not prepare dinner ahead of time but instead make a menue according to what we are having for dinner. For us, the meal prepartions have become fairly easy. And compared to having a drugged child with multiple seizures and injuries due to drop seizures, the keto diet is nothing.
