Guest guest
Hi all, I posted about a week ago seeking opinions and advice about the weight gain many of us experience in spite of diet, and/or any level of exercise. I saw my physiatrist last Thurs. and talked to him about it. He said one theory among those studying chiari is that the area of the brain that is compressed most includes the hypothalmus which controls metabolism and appetite. I had to look up other functions of the hypothalmus since it has been a while since nursing school. Other than the effects he mentioned, it controls other glands such as thyroid. This may not help any of us drop a size, but it may explain the problem. in SC ACM/SM surgery 6-
