Anyone on Vioxx?

I know my grandma Kate took it for awhile, but it was when she already had terminal cancer.

How scary. I used to take it. I think my father-in-law is taking it. I called them and left a message. Thanks for passing this along Kathy!

Ideally. But their test groups may not have been followed for long enough, or may not be the ones that are affected, etc. The test that found this wasn't testing Vioxx for side effects, but were testing for something else. I can't remember what...it was on the news last night, not mentioned in the article.

Also....prior to 18 months of use there is no increased risk of heart attack or stroke, and after 18 months the risk doubled, but that still only puts 15 out of 1000 patients at increased risk. So no one should panic, just stop using it.

I'm on Bextra, and apparently now they have questions about all the -2 inhibitors. But since I don't want yet another pill ...which I would need to take for the GI affects if I were using NSAIDS....I'm sticking with the Bextra.

I don't even think that the proton pump inhibitors would do much to help me because on my second dose of an NSAID my IBS kicks into major high gear. So if they end up taking all the COX 2 inhibitors off the market, I'm screwed.

Kathy - I can't take NSAID's either because of GI effects and I'm on bextra also. I already take Nexiuum, I can't afford any more GI upsets, my IBS is bad enough as it is.

ain't we a pair, raggedy man?

I was on it when it first came out but not for long because it didn't seem to help me so I was quickly changed then to Celebrex and from there I was shifted to Bextra where I have now been for approx. 15 months now. Even though I don't think it's doing all that much, I'm sure if I went off it I would notice a difference.
