Hey all--

I chelated my son again this weekend and he is constipated again...

only the prune juice did not do anything for him this time!!! When I

gave him 1/2 cup on Friday, he went three times (HUGE amount).

I gave him another 1/4 cup yesterday and it did nothing. I gave him

1/2 cup again today and it still did nothing. He was acting great today!

--he gets rashes from fiber supplements--Benefiber, cellulose powder, etc

--he gets constipated when I introduce a new food

--he drinks plenty of water

--he grinds his teeth if I try to increase magnesium

--he eats a lot of bananas so I am guessing his

potassium is ok (he is eating the same foods he

did months ago, pre-chelation, and he was going

at least once a day)

--he does not seem yeasty

Has anyone ever tried Smooth Move tea? I am wondering how much to give

him. I was thinking less than 1/4 cup.

Do you think he might need an adjustment by a chiropractor?

I keep Smooth Move in the house at all times. It's not something

you'd want to use continuously, but is the best thing to occasionally

do the trick. I make a " two-bag " cup and give about half to my 95 lb.

son, less than half that to his 40 lb. sister (who hardly ever needs

it) mixed in juice. Some kids could take it straight, the taste is

not unpleasant.

The chiropractic might be a good idea, too. I have been taking both

kids to a chiro/cranial sacral therapist for a couple months now, and

we have noted subtle but sustained improvements on the pooping front.

Other thoughts:

Bananas are constipating for my kids.

I'm sorry I don't remember your son's age and functioning level, but

probably the best thing we did for my son when he was age 7, very high

functioning, was to simply remind him to go(retained stool gets larger

and harder in anyone). I think sometimes they just get too " busy " ,

especially as you chelate and they start feeling better!!

Good luck,

Lissy

STOP the bananas, they are CONSTIPATING, and interfere with nutrient

absorption and availability, and bowel activity.

They are really a poor source of Potassium compared to better things.

Avocados have 4 times the Potassium, are not constipating, encourage

bowel activity, and don't interfere with nutrients.

GSE constipates our son every time we tried it for yeast. I finally did some

research and it seems GSE has fantastic antibiotic properties.

With no bugs or not enough bugs to munch or digest them, solids in the intestine

tend to stay solid.

[ ] constipation again

My son has battled constipation for quite a while. He's been doing really

good for about three weeks and then all of a sudden it started getting firm and

now they are balls and we're having to give him baby lax to go. The only change

has been that I started giving milk thistle and a few times I've given him

grapefruit seed extract. Can yeast die off cause constipation? Any of this

might be causing it? Thanks for the help.

Yeast can cause constipation. I have other constipation ideas here

After using PCA-Rx for a week, I got constipation. Dana suggested

it could be yeast, so I took GSE and probiotics. I'm feeling so

much better now.
