Guest guest
As was discussed in previous messages, some doctors are " inconvenienced " by the use of anesthesia while they're working. Prior to an ERCP, the patients are told that it may set off pancreatitis. And they are also told of the risk of possible perforation of a duct. And, as with any procedure performed under sedation, there is always a possibility of complications. AS with general anesthesia, we respond to sedation differently no matter how many times we've been through it. I cannot even remember how many times I've been sedated for various procedures and I still had a terrifying experience in March. I was to undergo the BARD EndoCinch Suturing of my esophagus. I simply stopped breathing once sedated. It was a fluke. I went back again the following month and had it under full general anesthesia in the operating suite. It was the talk of the hospital and there was a huge audience. And, as you all know, I will go back on Wednesday for another celiac block. -E
Guest guest
Kaye is right about the risk of perforation. Thankfully, that's one problem that I've never had. -E
