Summer Session

We attended the session in 2001. It was fabulous. We had been well

educated at CCHAT in San Diego, but were lucky enough to be invited to

attend. The parents who had kids in the early stages of " learning to hear "

were encouraged by my daughter's progress. It was really great to bond with

the other families and let them observe the progress that could be made.

You have to commit to being there for the entire session (at least one

parent). A few families had someone fly in for a week or a few days and

then that person left. Also, it's only for hearing impaired children up to

age 5.

Those who participated in the sibling group loved it. They educate those

kids about hearing loss, talk about how they feel, and also have lots of

fun.

It's worth attending. The training is free; you have to pay for lodging and

transportation. We live in San Diego so we came home on the weekends while

others did sightseeing and the like.
