Guest guest
Hello Listmates, Please find the below introduction from a parent and advocate for our children. I met him on a Autism e:mail list, and he is in the business of helping parents to effectively communicate with the school districts. I thought his explanation of the battle field was well stated below and from one who has been hip deep in the trenches of autism. Anyway Micheal seems to have a heart and a ambition for our children. His contact info is below. Bob ********************************************************************** Just so you are aware, I am not an attorney. I am a Civil Rights Lobbyist, a little different but somewhat the same but I believe with more power in Due Process, IEP, Mediation's. Involving key legislative contacts in cases by cc email's and fax's has been a key to putting the pressure on districts to come into compliance and stop wasting money on attorneys to defend them. Generally... all they do is scare parents from due process by hiring an attorney... the funds to hire the attorney generally would pay for what they want. It's a basic administrative ego trip coupled with the fact that most of them go home to kids at night that are not disabled and spend very little time in spec ed classrooms ....if they do... very little individually with any of our children. So they are clueless regarding them, clueless regarding IDEA especially section 615, clueless about recent or current legislation, clueless regarding their own state statutes... and basically an open target for any parent willing to fight. Most districts I get into due process with will fold withing 2-3 months after spending about 15k on attorneys fees for no reason. It's all about money..... like everything. Sad.... huh. ---------------------------------------------The Office Of Advocacy for Autistic Children Director: E. , Sr. U.S. Civil Rights Lobbyist DC, DoD - Lil Mikeys Daddy Founder: C.O.P.S.
