I started out doing best with guided meditations. There are several free sites on the web..I'll look to see if I've saved any, but if you google guided meditations some should come up.

Now I do several different kinds..I always start with a prayer and deep breathing (in for the count of 7, hold for the count of 5 out for the count of 9). The prayer starts to focus your mind, the deep breathing sharpens the focus as well as physically relaxing you. Alot depends on your level or direction of spiritually so it's pretty personal, but it is best to choose one thing that you will focus on....maybe something like surrounding yourself with healing white light, or focusing on a flower and focusing so completely that your mind empties.

If you feel your mind wandering, don't berate yourself, just bring it back to your original focus.

You should be in a comfortable seated position...unless you are OK with it turning into a nap, LOL....then you can lay down.
