The problem is that high protein diet increases focus, but these people are already overfocused. Dr Amen says these people need higher levels of tryptophan, but high protein diets actually reduce tryptophan as it doesn't compete well with other amino acids. If you are wary about giving more carbs, you could try giving more tryptophan rich foods and supplementing with tryptophan or 5HTP. Inositol could also help (providing your kid is not overmethylated). If that doesn't work, you may have to increase carbs. If you are casein-free, now is a good time to look at going back on dairy using Houston enzymes as support. That way you beat yeast and boost tryptophan. Very hard to do without dairy. A bowl of yoghurt with mashed banana and a dash of real vanilla before bedtime gives a great night's sleep and boosts tryptophan levels. Turkey breast is the other classic high-tryptophan food. Guest guest
> turkey and chicken legs are better than breasts. People's taste differs. However, I wasn't suggesting this because I personally happen to like white meat, I was suggesting it due to the relatively high tryptophan content of turkey breast, which is in fact much higher in the white than the dark meat, and higher in turkey than in many other sources. > > > > Also a high protein, high fat, modest carbohydrate diet works > > well > > > for > > > > most kids (unless they are OCD, oppositional, depressive, self > > > > injurious types who need high carbs). Also, could you suggest other high tryptophan foods? I ran out after turkey breat, dairy and bananas, and obviously dairy is not helpful to many parents. Yes. More likely to help, and help more, is a lot of adrenal cortex supplement. > Also, could you suggest other high tryptophan foods?
