Guest guest
Hi, , and Yes. Someone else does have that problem with swelling eyes. Me. I noticed it happens every time we use our fireplace more than once or twice a week in the winter. It also happens when I use certain chemicals to clean the house. I also get crystals that are sharp and scratch the surface of my cornea after using certain chemicals like Sofscrub, or Scrubbing bubbles cleansers. It doesn't effect them right away, but after I've slept. Very irritating, and mind boggling. I never know what will trigger it for sure. I'm not even convinced it is the fireplace on the other occasions, just that is what seems to be the common denominator sometimes. And, it is too Lupus that is at the root of all of it, is my belief, and my Rheumy's. She says that Lupus is such a serious compromise of our immune systems that it stands to reason that anything can have a negative effect on us in almost any area of the body. My skin is fully involved, as well as brain, lungs, and kidneys. I also have weird reactions to lots of things, medicines, skin care products, soaps, cleaners, etc. None of that was a problem until the SLE kicked in big time. So, my friend, yes, swelling eyes is just one more manifestation of the disease, but should be looked at to rule out any other known causes before you reach that conclusion. Isn't this fun? NOT. Guest guest
.. are you allergic to aspirin? or sulfa drugs? I ask because most asthmatics are ... and if you are .. you should not be taking sulfasalazine, as it will aggravate your asthma. Also if you are sensitive to it, it could account for the eye swelling.. just a thought .. " Rion "
