Hi Angelia,

Perhaps you missed the point I had hoped to make:

It is that a specific number of carbohydrate grams will raise a person's

glucose by the same specific total amount of glucose - whether the carbs

absorb fast or slow.

So as a diabetic - you still have the same amount of glucose to worry

about without the insulin for it - whatever speed they are absorbed.

There is not less glucose to handle if you eat " complex carbs " than if

you eat " simple carbs " . There is only less glucose to gandle if you eat

*less* carbs.

The only way to get less blood glucose to deal with as a diabetic is

to eat *less* carbs - not different carbs.

Choosing slow carbs over fast carbs is in my view the same as choosing

slow poison over fast poison. Why not choose *no* poison?

That is what I was advocating.

I feel that the debate should not be between fast versus slow carbs - as

both are toxic.

The debate I see is on whether we should eat poison or not :-))

The notion that carbs are okay if they are " slow/complex " is not a valid

one to me. To me carbs of any kind are never okay for a diabetic.

Your post seems to imply I would prefer fast carbs to slow carbs - not

so - I prefer *no* carbs for diabetics. Carbs are not essential

nutrients and eating them guarantees we can not burn fat and lose weight

because there is glucose in the blood - and in that state the body will

not bring up fat to burn.

Eating carbs - any carbs - makes sure we have a harder time

controlling blood sugar - for the simple reason that we are adding to

the blood sugar unnecessarily :-)) Fast or slow makes no difference.

Leavbing out the carbs makes a big difference.

The point is they casue a rise :-))

Leaving them out causes no rise.

Protein and good fat does this perfectly, no carbs needed.

And proetin and fat does it without a rise in glucose, and for a longer

period.

The LESS carb there is, the better it is for you :-))

Our goal?

Not my goal :-))

Mine is to maintain Bg between 80 and 90.

Can't do that eating carb foods, slow or fast :-))

I do it with protein and good fats.

Slow poison instead of fast poison is still poison :-))

I find proteins and good fats far better than carbs to work on this.

Namaste,

Irene
