Guest guest
After a harrowing night, I've checked emails and now I'm going to bed! Ifyou look at the radar shots of Hurricane (Tropical Storm last night) Frances from last night, the little star in the middle is US! GRRRRR We just got power back this morning but allof the schools are closed and probably will be for a while. Most of the rural roads are washed out with 8-10 inches of rain just last night and steady falling still today. It's a mess. We were (uh huh WERE) the proud owners of the largest eucalyptus tree in the county. Until last night. The top twisted out of it and THANKFULLY just landed between our house and the neighbors and missed all of the wires, etc. Other than being a little chicken, we're all ok. I'll let you know more after I've been home with for a week or so. The day care center is closed as well and it's about 25 miles from here in another county. I think they said 80 school systems are closed in Georgia. Now to prepare for Ivan who is slated to hit around Panama City, FL and come straight through here like Frances did. Geesh. So far. Subject to change every 30 minutes or so and that's what makes it so frustrating. Ronnie went this morning to help a neighbor cut up 3 tree that fell on his house and then, would you believe, profit is the bottom line........ Napa is sending him to pick up some orders from Atlanta. He'll be on I-75 and the trip north won't be bad but it'll be hours getting home coming south with everyone going home to Florida! It's too dangerous for him to take the back roads and miss the traffic so he'll be sitting and creeping! Some people............ Here's some pics of the tree (I was inside taking them... I ain't stupid!) and you can see where the middle section was "twisted" out. Strange! And a blessing that it landed right at the bottom of the tree and missed both houses. It's right outside my bedroom window. OK goodnight everyone! Christy Answer questions, earn points and buy cool things. Their electricity is off again, of course, although from what I understand they aren't being hit as bad by Frances as they were by Charly. But it's hard to understand him because the cell service stinks and the other lines are down. > Kathy > Whew > > > After a harrowing night, I've checked emails and now I'm going to bed! Guest guest
- Christy- so glad you're safe. How are you getting the weather reports- batteried radios? You don't have power, right?? So you have enough supplies, food, water etc.? I was wondering if it would even be possible to send anything-are they delivering anything locally? Let us know if we can help at all.
