HepB is the shot they get before leaving the hospital after they are born.

My oldest two boys got them the day they were born. My oldest was

born in the evening and yet his date of first vaccination is that

same day. My middle son was also done the same day, but he was born

in the afternoon. My youngest has no record of the birth

vaccination. Interesting. Their birth years are 1995, 1997, and 2000

I heard something that the first HepB was recommended to be given at

2 months instead of the first day (I think it cheanged in last year

or two)? Is that true? I asked the hospital where I am going to

deliver my baby and they told me that they do not give the vaccine at

the first day. My husband is going to watch over the baby to prevent

them from giving the vaccine for the case that they decide to do it.

Hi ,

When you check into the hospital for your delivery you will have to

sign consent forms. Make sure you read every single line and make

sure you are in the condition to understand what your reading. It is

in these consent forms that you give permission. There might be

several things that you are consenting to that is on the same form. I

would make sure you write in big bold letters UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES

DO I GIVE MY PERMISSION FOR MY CHILD TO BE VACCINATED FOR HAPATITIS B!

The reason I'm saying this is because I have a friend at work who met

with the pediatrician that would take care of her baby when he was

born. She told him she did not want her baby to have the Hep B

vaccine. Unfortunately she didn't pay close enough attention to the

forms she signed when she checked in for delivery. She didn't know

that the Ped wasn't the one that gave the vaccine the nurses do. She

didn't realize she had signed the consent form. She didn't know until

the babys 2 mos check when the peds nurse came in to give the baby

what she thought was the first Hep B. When she told her she didn't

want it the nurse asked her why did he have a reaction to the one in

the hosptial? My friend said I didn't let him have the one in the

Hospital. The nurse showed her the record that the baby had gotten

it. She immediatley called the Pediatrician back into the room. He

claimed he never gave him the shot. She went to the Hospital to raise

hell and they showed her the signed consent form. She never knew they

ahd given him it. The baby was O.K. but you have to be very very

careful.

If you don't already have it get a copy of Dr. Cave's " What Your

Doctor May NOT Tell You About Childhood Vaccines " It includes the schedule,

ingredients, dangers, etc. SSubject: Re:[ ] When is the very

, I had a baby 6 mos ago. Upon checking in I told the nurse on

duty that Dinah was to receive no vaccines. I told every nurse after

that. I had planned on bringing a 3x5 notecard that said " No

vaccines " to tape on the bassinet, but my labor/delivery nurse was a

woman with whom I go to church. She even refrained from giving a

vitamin K shot until we had received the package insert from the

farmacy so we could check for mercury. Everyone at the hospital was

very nice about the whole thing.

I suggest you check out www.cdc.gov and go to the immunization

schedule. From there you can also read about each disease and the

rates of infection on the various diseases.

Hi,

I just had an appointment with my midwife and asked her about the

vaccine. She said that there was a short time while it was not given

the first day because of thimerosal concern. Now they got thimerosal-

free HepB vaccines and offer it to all parents on the first day. She

said that most parents refuse. Sure, I will tell my husband to watch

carefully, and will try to watch myself as much as I can. The midwife

said that they always ask for signature before giving the vaccine,

and indicated in her documentation for birthing plan that I do NOT

want it.

Thanks everybody for good advice

my dd got her Hep B at 2 days old, before she left the hospital - and I

didn't even know it until I started traveling down this road almost 3 yrs

later.

This may sound like a stupid question, but at what age is the very first

vaccination that a child receives? at 2 months of age? and what vaccination

is this?

Do babies automatically get some type of needle prior to this age,

immediately after being born?

:)
