Guest guest
Oh June , You sound so much like me,I will be 50 in a few months. I am home bound on disability and have not worked in 6 years. I have multiple health problems and bottom line is my weight. The only time I have been able to lose weight was when I did Optifast. I kept if off for 2 years and dang it, it snuck back on me. I am on week 4 of SBD and I love it. I too was a bread & potato girl. And that's what I had the hardest time with the first week. One night I cheated and ate saltine crackers (is that pathetic or what). But now I don't miss it at all. I highly recommend the Cauliflower potato salad. I love it. and it make me think I was eating potatos. You said you aren't hungry when you get up. I am not either, and have never been a breakfast eater. But the most important thing I have leanred so far on the SBD is to eat proper meals and your snacks. I used to go without eating because I wasn't hungry. Made sense to me. Why show food in my face if I wasn't hungry? But then by the time I was hungry I was shoving all the wrong things in my face. On SBD I eat at proper meal times, Even if I am not hungry. And make sure that I do. I am never hungry, I don't crave anything, and I know I am losing weight. I don't know how much yet. I won't know until I go to the Doctor's on June 9th. But I know I have lost, I am breathing better, sleeping better. my clothes are a wee bit loser. And the big one. I just went to the grocery store and shopped. I haven't done that I bet in 2 years. I couldn't walk that much and be able to breath. I love this board, Everyone inspires me. And I have gotten good advice and GREAT recipes. So hang tough. Don't give up. Potatoes aren't as important as you are. Hugs, Robin In a message dated 5/18/2005 3:25:24 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right writes: Hi. My name is June and I am just starting on South Beach this week. I am single: the only man in my life currently is one of my cats. I turned 50 last year. I have been overweight all of my life and have tried every diet out there. I currently have about 95 pounds to lose. I am an absolute carb junkie: The more bread and pasta the better. I've had the most luck with Adkins, but couldn't stick with it. I am hoping that South Beach will give me more flexability as it goes on.Now, my quick question is: What do you find to be good breakfast and lunch options for taking to work? I eat breakfast when I get to work because I'm just not hungry when I first get up. I've made the Veggie Quiche Cups and loved them and brought salad with low fat cheese for lunch, but has anyone found an other great portable breakfast and lunch options? FYI: I hate raw tomatoes. Cooked are fine, tomato soup is my favorite, but I cannot stand a tomato in its raw state. Used to make my grandmother crazy.
