RE: sodium valproate/depakate

Nicola- For the first time in 2 yrs is only on one med right now and that

is Depakote. As soon as she was weaned off of everything else she turned into a

maniac. (in a good way) SHe is full of energy, somewhat hyperactive. This is

good for us because we are so use to her being drugged up and a zombie. We are

experiencing some insomnia. She rarely takes a nap any longer and doesn't have

any desire to go to bed until about 11:30 at night. And that is after she puts

up a long 2 hour fight. She is only 2 1/2 so thats is a little problem for us.

No irriatability though.

Nicola,

Shan was on depakote/depakene for about 1 month. It caused her to have

suicidal thoughts and she became a safety risk to herself and others. We

always had to have someone with her holding her hand. We saw a neuro in

Salt Lk. and he thought she had a very low attention span showing signs of

hyperactivity. The worse thing was that she no longer had a conscience.
