I know that I have what is called Non-verbal Learning Disorder which is when I have to have somebody explain like everything to me.If I sit down and try to do a math problem by myself I go crazy. That's why for the 2nd time I have had to stop taking Algebra 2 because my teacher just refuses to take the time and explain stuff.I also have really bad concentration and memory, but they contribute that to the NVLD. Guest guest
Memory problems, trouble concentrating and being organized... I was an excellent student when I was young, and I'm (ahem) a fairly bright guy. But man, getting through school was a heck of a chore and I spent 3 years as a freshman before giving up on school until this year at the age of 35. I have to wonder if the lack of focus was related to ACM. I choose to believe that. The optional explanation, lazy bum, doesn't seem to me NEARLY as plausible. Matter of fact she came close to passing out on one of the several times, after that we stopped the ADD meds. So now I think it was Chiari related and not ADHD, She was pretty hyper when she was small but grew out of that when she hit the teen years. That is when the Chiari symptoms really showed. Fatigue, headaches, nausea, sleeping alot, memory problem's. I had asked Dr. Milhorat about that once and he said they were seeing that. We never got more into the conversation about it though. (possible misdiagnosing) I think ADHD is a fast DX for some that they really don't know what else to do for them. (or don't care to take the time) I know there are kids and adults that really have ADD and I am glad the meds are working for them.
